if it can go for an hour then it should be fine for the 1 min that it would take to run cinebench.

What FM2+ board that's cheap would you suggest getting to overclock an APU? Does the ability to OC start at a particular chipset or are they all able to do it?

A88X is best- but all chipsets can OC, the best board ATM for novice overclocks (easiest bios etc) is the Crossblade Ranger from ASUS. But the ASRock A88X Extreme6+ is good, so is the MSI A88X Gaming

I had my Sempron 145 at 5.0GHz, but it required OBCENE amounts of voltage. I can probably make my G3258 get there with 1.35v, but I'm happy with 4.6GHz at 1.26v.

The one on my Z97X-Gaming 5 is freaking awesome. I don't see why Linus doesn't like it as much, other than the fan control being complete shit.

9590 is not 5 GHz at stock.

 

it's 4.7 with 5Ghz turbo.

On my 2600K that i had, I was able to get to 5Ghz with no problem on water.

I have a 5.1 stable that I run on benches but I am working on a 5.3 stable, but it crashes after 6 hours of P95.

I did specify the AMD UEFI in particular, it's a very old version :(

 

And it's rubbish, very poor voltage control, loadline calibration, and features aren't explained.

I know, but the fact that they have not carried it over is weird.

I got a feeling some of the AMD system ROMs and stuff are archaic and means they can't be bothered to update their UEFI shell to a newer one because it'd be a waste of time.

yup. it was stable but temps were not good , 87C after 1 hours on Prime 95 .i downclocked it to 4.5ghz and now its on stock coz i realize after bit of time i don't need OC now so why kick it hard without need.

5.13GHz was able to run 1.35v on Prime95 at 87c?

 

You weren't using task manager were you...?

why would you stress test it if you were just going to bench it? its just degrading the chip for no reason.

Ugh I wish I wasn't such a wuss and also more of an expert in overclocking. I feel like I could theoretically get extremely good overclocks with my watercooling setup
