Kickass is still alive, so no.

Have a field day with my short opinion.

Depends.  As a US citizen, if I get pounded with data caps and throttling, I wouldnt even have the internet to torrent anything.

Just another benefit of our wonderful society, run by giant corporations, who have the FCC by the balls.

Nah. Not until VPNs and proxies are made illegal, and even then, SSH tunnelling is used in even enterprise scenarios, meaning there'll always be an encrypted way out of a network.

So long as DHT, PEX, and usenet protocols are not blocked around the world, it live on.

Although usenet in itself is both centralized and decentralized, people will still run private groups, just like since the early 90s.

P2P traffic is becoming more decentralized. After all, look at what we have now: no more need for public trackers.

Eventually, looking for something on P2P networks will be just as easy as searching within the client against known hashes by other peers. Were not quite there yet, in terms of protocol and infrastructure, but soon enough, TPB and other sites will most likely be things of the past, just like how no one remembers the Gopher protocol.

First off, No.

Secondly, No.

And thirdly, No.

The people who have their reasons for pirating games will always pirate games, no matter what the site is named. If TPB were to permanently get shut down, it won't be long before plenty of clones pop up to fill the void and people will go back to pirating games..

Like GabeN says, it's more important to have legitimate distribution networks (like Steam) that offer a good alternative to piracy, rather than trying to brute-force "stop" piracy.

Pirating is already something from the past, because attacking ships on the high seas is a grave crime. Naval patrols and armed guards on ships have greatly reduced piracy.

Because it is insanely hard to find torrent hosts.

Not if you have any idea of what you should be doing, and if you don't, you probably shouldn't be torrenting and expecting to get what you want from it.

Not completely. There will always be something trying to justify their actions.

With Services like Steam and Netflix, though, it's already more convient for people to pay rather than pirate content.

Well I'm not sure, but I think I'll be on minority on this one. I have completely stopped pirating like 6 months ago and do not intend to come back any time soon. My take on this is if I can't afford it I'm not going to buy it or pirate simple as that.

Well I would disagree there. My friends refuse to buy it if the game is a single player focused or a single-player completely, but then again maybe I just have bad friends? :D

Went off Netflix for £5.99 a month it wasn't worthwhile since there's nothing I really watched apart for me Breaking Bad and Dexter.

Also I pirated and buy if I like a game. Right now I might pick up Far Cry 4 during the sales but the uPlay usage is the deal breaker. RIP FC4 was good.

But they are slower than the other site, so sad, you have to wait longer to get those hypothetical torrents I would never download for tv shows.

Game of Thrones is aired on Sunday night, then I download it the next day.

Also when doing 4MB/s down they go rather quick.

And by not 'downloading' torrents aren't you the perfect child.

I don't think so. The only way to do that would be to control the Internet in some sort of totalitarian manner, and people wouldn't stand for that. Like others have sa

I totally agree with this. People are more likely to change what they do if they do it by choice. If there is something easier to do it, people will gradually move to it. There will always be the people that are willing to put in the effort to pirate something in order to not spend money, but as the majority of people will prefer to save time they will be more willing to pay for things.

Considering it's been around way before the internet was mainstream, no. I take it TPB being down has something to do with this topic. Piracy has existed for a long time and will continue existing in spite of the most popular torrent site being down for the umpteenth time.

The main reasons it's so huge (aside from the obvious wanting something for free) are usually from boneheaded corporations. Let's take Ubisoft. Uplay is terrible and anyone who is unwilling to tolerate it will have no problem torrenting a version without it. Other reasons are companies making dumb decisions of not making a product available in certain regions. Game of Thrones are heavily pirated for this reason I believe. And of course, there are those who *would* buy legit if the legit price tag wasn't laughable. Photoshop probably being a great example as for artwork, a 50 dollar Japanese program has way greater lines that are smoother vs this 600 dollar piece of bloat.

PS: Pirating isn't even bad. Chucklefish, a small indie dev actively goes out and says its ok to pirate their games and buy when you can afford if you like. It's the big AAA companies that make a big fuss with their DRM hard ons waving around in the air. (I actually pirated Starbound and bought it legit because I loved it)
