What kind of cable/GPU is going to drive that beast?

edit: It has higher PPI than a 28" 4k display... WTF? I have to be 2 inches away from my monitor to see the pixels @ 4k 28", and this is a TV where you're likely to be sitting at least five feet away.

That's the exact first thing I was thinking too. I know that DP says that their next version will do 8k 60hz, but that isn't close to being released yet.

I wouldn't say it so fast. At the very least, it's driving innovation.

It's already impossible to find 4K content; I like to see the advance in technology but definitely a waste atm

We have not even done 4K properly!

Totally one of those. Mine has more pixels than yours! And then they will be curved (Samsung...)

Looking on the bright side - this could help to drive down the prices of 4K TVs/monitors.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

4k is innovation, this is just LG saying that they have exploited 4k so much that new panels are not enough, they need more. 4K content is nearly impossible to get right now (moves, tv shows, etc..) you could find some 4k youtube videos, but that's about it. 8k is just for whoever has so much money that you just don't know what to do with it.

I have no issue with them building the device but adding it to their TV lineup next year would be stupid. There's no 8k content for any consumer to use on the damn thing.

Is this targeted at consumers or business? Because I could see this being usefull for business grade users who work with Photoshop and the like. Still it is a bit ridiculous, we need 4k to become affordable first.

If 8k becomes the next 4k, 4k becomes 1080p. I like the whole "moving forward" thing.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

Awesome. You can watch four 4k movies without any information loss at all. Though its useless for a regular consumer, its going to be awesome for content creators. Imagine your preview window being in native 4k while working on it. Freaking awesome.
