i3 4150 vs FX-6300

Pahddy

I know for certain that now that I will be building a new system after Christmas! I am still not sure which is the best choice for me! I will be playing mainly Call of Duty tiles ranging from CoD4 to AW whilst recording at the same time. This PC will also be used for editing and rendering videos! On paper the FX-6300 is better but I just would like so other peoples opinions first before I definitely buy!

The graphics card I am going to use is the GTX 750 Ti I have at the moment and same with the RAM (2x4GB Kingston HyperX Beast 1600MHz)

Thanks!

EDIT: I know both platforms can be upgraded to a more superior model for example the core i7 or the FX-8350. I am running a Pentium G2020 (1155) just now

Here in the UK there is a £30 or £40 difference and I know that my parents said that they would buy me a CPU under around £100. Even tho the FX-8320 is around £105 I don't want them to spen too much

I agree. This doesn't put the factor of multi tasking like recording and stuff at the sametime

just upgrade your pentium to a core i5 cpu that is supported by your motherboard. that way you don't need a new motherboard...if you can afford an i7 it would be even better for rendering and recording.

EDIT: looking at all these ''fail'' post i wonder why you guys are even bothering to be around here...

i would buy this or similar (find them used on craigslist or something like that)

http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i5-3570-Quad-Core-Processor-Cache/dp/B0083U94D8

make sure your motherboard supports it, it should you may have to update the bios first though...sell the pentium for 25$ online.

Lol then you pay the extra 5 pounds. like my parents said to me that I had to get a new pc with the budget of 700EUR. I added my 70EUR and got a huge performance benefit

Longboarders/ skaters message me!

I told you in your previous post you can use the iGPU for recording. Aswell as shadowplay on your 750TI.

This means there is little to none performance impact whilst recording.

More new games;

My parents are buying me the CPU for Xmas and I will buy the rest with the money I get which will be around £150  (for PSU, mobo, case and hard drive etc) so I guess I can save up through out the year for an i5

My point is an i3 + a new board should be about the same cost as an i5 with no new board.

The i5's start at around £130 here but I know they will not be willing to pay that much at once.

exactly, this is a no brainer an i5-3570 CPU will destroy any core i3 at any type of workloads.

i'd get a g3258 and a better cpu later, otherwise get the FX-6300.

Thats what I was planning to do with my 1155 build just now but I never got a job and stuff so I guess I will just get a Haswell build and hope that this year I will be able to save up for an i5

explain them that you will get better that way and that you save money by not buying a new motherboard and that you will refund them the money for the board at a later date i'm sure they will understand.

can you give me the exact model of motherboard you have in hands and also your location?
