Bad players with good PCs

APrettyCoolWalrus

Incidentally that IS what people mainly use Lambos for. I just posted this in another thread too but just because you're shit at gaming doesn't mean you're somehow not worthy of having a good pc if you bloody want one.

lol Actually you are completely right. But this is why it's senseless to get a really fast uncomfortable ride. I myself would get like an Audi A6, classy and luxurious but make no mistake it can fly if it needs to. Sports cars....eh

Passion and willingness to learn is not at all correlated with money. Look at Hellraisers AdreN, that guy played from Kazakhstan getting sub 60-150 fps on his bad computer with 150 ping in all his online pro games and he was (arguably still is) a world class player.

Why do people spend so much money on a gaming computer that when they are not good at the game that they play? An example would be someone with a $2000 PC that is Silver 2 in CSGO

Because they enjoy computers and have fun with them :D I play to win but thats not all that matters at the end of the day I play for the fun and love of the game!

Im a pretty terrible video game player, and I have a decently high end pc. I play games for fun and couldn't care less about my ranking, and I love hardware. Its like saying that a guy that isnt a good enough driver to be a race car driver shouldn't be allowed to own a Ferrari.

I think OP feels how I do. I don't play cs go but I am very into league of legends. I play on very bad100 dollar computer for 2 years and I'm very high diamond, when I hear that my friends parents bought them nice computers I get sad. I remember someone telling me that they are going to trow out their expesinve monitor because it has 5 ms response time and he is getting one with 2 ms response time. Yes having a better set up is always a good thing. I don't get mad at him for trying to get advantage possible but going 3ms faster isn't going to help you get out of silver2. I feel that as humans we like having things as fast as possible even tho we won't use it because it's a nice feeling to have. However we sometimes go way over bored. Imagine your out of town and you want to eat out possibly Chinese food. You are really hungry so you decided to buy the whole resturant. In reallity you could have just bought and 2-3 extra plates to feed ur self. So that way you can have the placibo effect and the calm feeling that you will never run out food. Please don't spend 8000 dollars on a computer to play cs go or get an i7 processor just to use word and chrome. Spend your money wisely invest in other things. If you work hard to buy a computer u also have to factor in the time ur missing playing because your working vs the real benefets of your improve specs. Their always diminishing returns and you have to find the best optimal path.

It is definitely the placebo effect, you think you are going to do better but you aren't. I have played on cheap retail computers and get top of the match, people think I'm a hacker,etc...bottom line is people don't practice or don't know what to do to make them better at games.

People that "aren't good" at any particular game are oftentimes new to the game.   There are new players every where.  You were new once, too.  Why would a new player have to start out with a computer of mediocre abilities?   It would seem logical to me for a person that ISN'T good to have the technical advantage of a great computer.

That way he can focus on learning and not saying things like, "Dammit why does this keep happening? Is there something wrong with my computer?"

With a great computer, a newb can instead know that his gear is the one that's killer, and he just sucks at the game and need to keep practicing.

This is a really silly question. Ignorant even. You don't have to be good at something to enjoy it. And you don't have to play one game either. And if that someone spent $2000 it clearly wasn't meant for cs go alone. Bf4 is very demanding. That would be like buying a lambo to drive it around the neighborhood.

When I was shopping for a new SSD in a store, there was a person (I'm guessing he's 16) who had a bag filled with (well, converted my country's currency to USD) ALOT of $1-$10 bills. He bought a pair of 295X2s. I asked what games he's gonna play it with. He told me he's gonna play Skyrim with tons of mods, BF4, Crysis 3, Witcher 2, CS:GO, DotA 2, Titanfall, the entire Bioshock series, CoD 4-Ghost (at that time), AC3 and 4, some PS3 emulated games, Dynasty Warriors, and whatever the new games he wants to try out.

Call it a waste of money, I call it never settling for an unsatisfying experience.

Seriously, why is this question brought up? And why does it matter? Thread starter, that question deserves a well drawn middle-finger gesture as a response/answer. It's like saying everyone can have their cake, but they can't (or not allowed to/are said to be undeserving to) eat it. Well, its his/her cake, let him/her eat it for goodness sakes. If he wants an experience that he wants to feel and even found a way to make it materialize (I hope that 16 year old didn't do anything illegal to get the cash), then it doesn't matter if he "sucks" because I think its about time people slow down on thinking about getting good at games (unless you want to be a professional gamer) and just enjoy them for what it is. Not with topics like that, or talking smack at your teammates in BF4, CS:GO, or DotA 2 because he isn't doing what is the "meta" or whatever.

Okay, I need a cigarette.

Paris Hilton attempts to drive a $150,000 Lambo that she routinely plows into shit with. Does she not deserve the sports car she can afford because she's not the best driver?

Why the fuck not? She has the money. She even has a Lexus LFA, which at that time is twice the pricetag of a Ferrari 599 GTB, which I think is worth $350,000 at that time.

My skill in FPS is dropping rapidly, I don't know if its because im getting board of them or what but I still drop as much money as I can because I'm all about power. People wonder why I drop so much money into a machine when I am not good at games and its because I dont just game. I edit as well. At times I have Lightroom, Photoshop, After effects, Adobe premiere, and other high resource use programs at once. You have to look at what else they do other than gaming.

I'm a bad player with . . . well a reasonable PC I would say it's capable atm, but to touch on your question, maybe they just enjoy playing games?.  .  . I do, I'm not that good at any game, I'd even go as far as calling myself a casual gamer, but I still want the best experience I can get from what I have.

Sorry OP, but that is a super dumb question.

I have a ROG Swift. Actually, i lie. I have 3 ROG Swifts and i use to watch porn. Is it wrong that i use $3000 worth of monitors for that purpose? No, because watching porn is never wrong.

You do realize Paris Hilton's fame and fortune comes from inheritance and being a spoiled skank that had a sex tape leaked right? She can afford these things, but she doesn't deserve them.

I feel that I have rusted a few Jim mies with this topic, but it's just an after effect of an experience where this guy waved his 980 SLI setup in the air while he had terrible stats for BF4, which was the only game he has sunk over 250 hours in. This topic came to mind. Hopefully we can all be friends :)

It really shouldn't matter if you're good at a game or not. It's if you enjoy the game.  You spend whatever you want on your stuff.  It doesn't matter if others think you're good or not.
