Denuvo DRM DESTROYS SSD

ahhming

I'm getting the game today and I'm planning on installing it on my SSD. I'll run some tests on it to see how much it actually writes to the disk.

I don't have any regular hard drives in my machine... 17tb+ and no regular hard drives lol

Enjoy having games with this DRM kill your SSD whereas it won't happen to me because all I use is hard drives.

I'm amazed that someone with a kid can be so stubborn and narrow minded, I hope you don't impart that level of critical thinking upon your progeny...So if this thread was about general use and SSD degradation, would you change your tune and say SSDs are fine for general use?

Define general use. Also I am not stubborn and narrow minded. I would have an SSD in my rig if it met all the criteria I wanted it to meet. Also people are allowed to take a position on something whether you agree with it or not and the fact is SSDs for gaming is pretty much a stupid choice. There aren't loads of benefits to doing it. If you call that stubborn and narrow minded fine but facts are facts.

So at the end, did this end up to be true or not?

Not true for me. Play a good 2 hours of DA:I today and my SSDs total host writes is still the same like i checked yesterday.

Before: 1720GB

FKinHKD.png

After: 1720GB

Game runs great on my system. It did utilized my CPU up to 50% while gaming tho, the only game i've play that did that.

These pirates just spreading FUD because they can't crack it. lel.

I am calm, trying to straw man me isn't going to help you, btw.

So instead of doing any of your own research or following up and using some of that good old critical thinking, you blindly assume that someone is correct then spend the rest of the thread being that stubborn and short sighted?

I don't know how to put this delicately, but you're an idiot.

What is this, tattle tale time? You have a problem, you can PM me. I was being very honest and reached a conclusion that YOU provided.

You weren't willing to do any independent research that backed OPs claims. All the sources you linked go back to the same dodgy Russian site which is hardly conclusive, people here have shown how many reads they actually get, so where does that leave us?

You failed in critically thinking for yourself and now are getting salty that someone called you out? Getting you banned? You're already there. Have the balls to say it to my face; you want me to shove a SSD up my ass? Is that how creative you were going to be? Come on, surely someone of your age can do better, eh?

I didn't realize the de facto response to when someone calls you out is to go crying for help instead of admitting you were wrong and moving on. And if me calling you an idiot is enough to set you off, well damn. I think I get that half a dozen times a day for aggravated patients yet I'm still working at the hospital, I didn't take my ball and go home because their words cut me deep.

You were rude and I called you on it.  Simple as that.  Also it has been widely spread around the internet that this DRM is a problem.  The only thing Denuvo has done is have information on their site that says their DRM doesn't do what people are saying. http://www.denuvo.com/#page-4 (probably was just put there since the controversy LOL) There are no official responses out there whatsoever from the company that I have found.  Why?

I would really like to be able to replicate this myself somehow. I actually might be able to find the real reason. I have a feeling it has something to do with the authentication process timing out or something idk, but I'm not 100% sure on how Denuvo works, as I've not taken a look at i.

I'm sure this DRM has some drawbacks but the only real "evidence" comes from obscure sites and is pedalled by people who are pissed off they can't pirate a game so easily anymore and so need to misinform as much as possible just to get the good old internet going down a singular track of thinking. In this case, generating false outrage over Denuvo.

When it's on their site like that, that is the official response. Where does it say they need a PR release to shoot down the claims of a obscure Russian site that originated the claims in the first place? Still waiting for some independent testing and results. You know, real data that isn't so biased and coming from a group of people upset over not being able to pirate a game.

Umm you might want to look at those carefully. All of them lead back to the exact same source that is the ONLY thing mentioned by people. If it were true then there would be a hell of a lot more people reporting the problem instead of several people debunking it. This rumor about Demuvo has been around a little while and I have NEVER seen anyone prove it beyond that one single source. The source isn't even remotely trustworthy either, there are way too many doubts that can be tossed at it to make it reliable and with no other data to back it up logically there is nothing to prove that Denuvo does anything. Instead of being close minded and going on about "SSDs are bad" apply a little critical thinking, it's what mature adults do when looking at information.

This is why I kept asking him for actual sources and to do a little thinking, to which he stormed off and took his ball home. Every single "source" he linked is a link back to the same Russian site. Until someone with actual reputation on the line reports and tests this, this will remain the sad conspiracy concocted by a bunch of gamers who are angry they can't so easily pirate games anymore.

Besides that question of how true this issue actually is, I don't think Ubisoft uses this DRM at all. At least none of the games mentioned in OP are Ubisoft titles.

If this is true, I hope it gets remedied since I want to play Lord's Of the Fallen quite a bit.

If it's false, its a bit worrying since this spread so fast.

I play the flute and I can confirm, you can use it to summon dragons.

Joking aside.

If you can back it up with screenshots or something it would help, just saying it doesn't isn't going help when there's so many people saying it does or doesn't already.

I've now played DA:I for about 4 hours. I checked total bytes written in Samsung Magician immediately after I had installed the game and it showed 1.63TB. After 4 hours of playing, the total was exactly the same. If Denuvo would actually cause 30GB of writes per hour as claimed, then the total would've been about 1.75TB.

Well...first it needs to be a good game...

A cd projekt game that is almost 4 years in developemnt, will be more than a good game;) take a look at what even sledgehammer has accomplished after 3years - finally a cod worth spending money on. Crossing out what ubisoft is doing with the pc game industry lately, it really seems games are getting better again overall, maybe even gta 5 will be a reloaded hit on pc:)

If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself.
