Update No.7

Inet and ASUS sponsor announcement

G'day and welcome!

In this latest update, I would like to happily announce Inet and ASUS as sponsors for the Re(de)fine project. It was certainly a surprise to me that Inet and ASUS had collaborated together to sponsor an ASUS Z97 Gryphon Armor Edition mATX motherboard! On top of this, ASUS had sent me a whole bag of awesome ROG "Swag" which I will be giving away to a lucky reader :) My thinking is that I would love to give back something to the modding community for all of the support that I have been given. The swag is including the following:

ROG shirt

ROG mousepad

ASUS 8GB USB flashdrive

ASUS bag

This motherboard will work perfectly is this project, which I have plans to paint the Armor with white Plastidip so that it blends well with the inside of the Air 240 chassis.

Here are some images of the goodies:

How badass wouldn't it be if you wrapped the armor in that leather?

Hi, your builds are simply breathtaking. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of paint and how do you prevent it from chipping?

Me too. My first ASUS sponsorship, so it's a big deal for me :)

Cheers Heethoofd. Hopefully it isn't the last to be sponsored either.

I am working on something as I type ;)

Hehe. I get that sometimes. Most people just call me Tom Cruise though.

You like it? The texture on the metal plate on the backside is amazing.

This is awesome, hoping that it'll turn out well!

Thanks Ind3x! I will have some more updates this week for you to check out.

Just remove 7 screws and you are done my friend. Easy!

Hi, your builds are simply breathtaking. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of paint and how do you prevent it from chipping?

Thank you so much :) I use 200 grit sandpaper to rough up the surface then clean it with acetone. Then I use car grade self etching primer, enamel paint and clear coat, leaving 20mins curing time between very thin coats. Let it all dry for a good 2 days and it should be rock solid.

Key is to paint VERY thin layers each time, and it helps if the items dry in a dry/warm area.

Update No.8

Front/top panel wrap

Hello friends and welcome to my latest update!

Today I would like to share with you a concept I came up with to cover the grill/mesh which is one of the defining features of the Carbide Air 240.

I decided that I wanted to use a single piece of aluminium, cut it, bend it and cover it in leather speaker material. This is what it turned out like :)
