Youtube 60fps its finally here

brownninja97

The whole chrome exclusive thing is kinda annoying. I mainly use firefox and switching to a different browser just for youtube is a bit silly IMO.

Works perfectly on Safari 8 on OS X with the HTML 5 player.

No it never was.

Everything about 30fps with AC Unity was about the console version.

My bad. Granted, a large part of the people uploading Let's Plays and what not play on consoles.

It is not exclusive, other browser just need to support the necessary HTML5 features and video codecs (Which Safari 8 does, so )

I figure I'm more in the minority here, but I prefer 24-30 fps (smoothly) for things I watch, and then for things I play, it really varies. 60 fps looks great in shooters and fast-action games, but then in Skyrim, for example, 60 fps just feels like everything's speeding up. Gopher made a video that I feel is a good example of this.

Again, I figure not many people agree with me here, but I think maybe 24 or 48 fps is kinda the sweet spot. As long as the game runs smoothly, that is. (exa: strong system locked at 48 fps with g-sync)

Just because your system can run higher, doesn't mean you have to.

actully no, cause it uses HTML 5 and you can change the speed so those people should be okay; also the automated system should help to solve this.

Well I can't even test this because I can't get flash to work with the Youtube player in Chrome with resolutions above 480p (It just perpetually loads). I also can't get Pale Moon to get anything other than 360p and 720p when using HTML5 either, and yes, I do have DASH enabled.

But what do you mean by "the automated system"? If you mean how it decides that 25/5 is too slow for 1080p30fps compressed video and switches to 360p instead then I don't see how that can solve anything.

Only in Chrome and how many months has it been... Firefox when?

Even Safari supports 60fps. FireFox really need to sort out their HTML 5 player support. :(

Yeah, your sarcasm doesn't work when there are actual genuine uses for 24 frames per second, for example. It just makes you look stupid.

24 FPS did not come into existence because it was useful. It exists because it is cheaper to shoot a movie that way.

Chrome was acting up on my desktop and stopped using it so no 60fps for me atm.  60fps is always my target framerate when playing games, but if I'm just watching them I don't care too much so this isn't too big of a deal for me.

According to this wiki page, 24 fps was chosen for sound synchronization in the late 1920's since the typical silent film was shown at 22-26 fps.

The reason why they still keep the 24 FPS is because it is cheaper. Special effects are done on frame by frame basis. The more frames each second of a movie has the more manhours and money will be necessary to get the effects and the editing done.
