Youtube 60fps its finally here

It's so smooth, I hate watching the videos in 30FPS now lol.

The reason why they still keep the 24 FPS is because it is cheaper. Special effects are done on frame by frame basis. The more frames each second of a movie has the more manhours and money will be necessary to get the effects and the editing done.

 

Actually, it was the cost of the stock film that kept the advancement in the frame rates. For the modern digital post-production, it is the frame size/resolution that's the more limiting factor than the total number of frames (post-processing cost is rather well distributed in the temporal domain). For instance, The Hobbit trilogy is being shot at 5K natively, but the SFX is processed in post at 2K resolution only.

My first experience of it was TotalBiscuit's CoDAW video, seeing the full 60fps is absolutely lovely and really should demonstrate to developers just how night and day the 30/60 difference is, regardless of it being a shooter.

Sure it's a bit apples to oranges with it being TB's Titan powered (no SLI support yet) rig vs a PS4, but look at smoothness of the gameplay and movement and animations as opposed to the graphical fidelity.
