What's the Oldest Hardware in Your System right now?

DualCore @ 2.4Ghz+ (Have used Pent4+HT before, it's not enough)

2GB Ram + 128GB SataII SSD

512MB 2600XT (GPU assisted Decoding for 720p YT or my own 1080p movies)

Had to rely on such a system a few times (Wouldn't want anything less)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I used to use a northwood Celeron 2.4GHz back in the day.  Got it to run Windows 7, after managing to get the CPU to render me useless 8 bit graphics. Slow as hell and cpu usage was pinned to 100%.

Lowest I'd go is probably a core 2 duo, 4GB RAM, and a geforce 210 for minimum video playback support (many core 2 duo mobos don't have gfx drivers for win10 :( )

Speedtests

WiFi - 7ms, 22Mb down, 10Mb up

Ethernet - 6ms, 47.5Mb down, 9.7Mb up

I don't recall the exact name of the CPU but it was an old AMD 1 core around 1.2GHz,  2GB DDR2, integrated graphics, generic 5400RPM HDD. Allow for general web browsing and youtube until I got my main rig back online. Actually that exact computer is still working as my parents business computer. Still turns on, operates well with Windows XP 32-bit. I'd use if I had nothing else and didn't have the funds to immediately repair my main computer.

My grandparents are currently using my gaming rig from 2006 that has been transplanted into there old HP case from ~2002. The only thing that has been changed in it is the GPU in 2008, PSU in 2010 and HDD in 2014.  An AM2 AMD Athlon X2 overclocked to 3.1GHz, 4GB DDR2 RAM, ATI 4850 (there was 2 but 1 died). Ive been tempted to upgrade the GPU to some low end £20 unit simply because I am using bootlegged sketchy drivers to make it Win10 compatible.

Hell my little brother still plays WoW on it.

Well my current main rig died and waiting on that repairs. So I am using some rather still newish fx 6300 980 ti build but in the terms of old stuff:

-My old Pentium 4 1 core 2 thread at 3.0GHz

-Apple IIC (Gots tons of old games on it)

-Intel Core Duo PC I have lying around

-AMD Athlon II X3 435 with 750ti and 2GB DDR2 800Mhz

-NeXT Cube with a Motorola 68040 at 33Mhz, 24MB of RAM with a 644MB HDD, I would probably learn some coding on it since I have a book on it. (I boot it once a week and place chess on it for fun lol)

-Super Crap Alienware M14xR2 with a i5-3210m, 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz and a GT 650m that I abused the living crap out of

^If all fails I would play with sticks and rocks

Do you use it as a DOS Box? I too have a Cyrix 6x86, but mine is at 133MHz and it is IBM branded, it and its motherboard (Gigabyte GA-586S2) is currently in my pile of stuff that I don't have a plan for ATM but it still works, I could possibly deck it out with 512MB of SD RAM since it has 2 SD Ram slots which would be funny.

I still have some 386-486 games somewhere... So a (fast) 386/486 would have been the bare minimum. However, I'd like to have a pc which could run some of my series/movies. Not sure what the bare minimum is there.

@ topic starter, I think my current pc is something like your bare minimum requirements... :P (but AMD)

Not yet, as I don't have any programs that need DOS ATM.

I dealt with a Pentium 4 630 with 945G graphics and 2GBs of DDR2 ram up until about October of 2015 and it became a nightmare to use, pretty much the lowest I would go.

Pentium D or any athlon X2 with enough RAM.

I don't need a lot of performance but the fact that a single core totally locks up when something is hogging the CPU drives me insane. A dual core, even a pentium, allows you to still do stuff while the other process is eating the other core which is something i cannot do without anymore.

And obviously RAM because once swapping starts ... meh...
