i really dont care about NVIDIA rumours any more. ill just wait for official info, should be here soon enough anyway, its almost autumn

Same I'm going to wait for a statement either by Nvidia or TSMC.

It's not even clear if the 800 series is coming this year.

The only thing we got from Nvidia was at GTC that Maxwell is coming 2014 which it already did with the 750/750ti and 800m cards.

They should make a dual-Maxwell GPU card with the Titan-Z like cooler and call it GTX 990, and a liquid cooled version and call it GTX 999

Wouldn't be surprised if after 900 series they moved away from G/GT/GTX and started differentiating cards differently, like AMD is doing with their R3/R5/R7/R9

Mobile and desktop GPUS should just have different naming schemes all together because this is just dumb and confusing to the consumer/

Well ,when AMD changed to the R9 scheme, it was leaked pretty early. NVidia, earlier this month stated, that GPU demand had fallen and prices will rise. Psychologically, it may be smart. The customers willing to spend money have 700 series cards. My plan was/is to skip 880 Tis. Calling them 980s....may get me to throw my money at the monitor.

Yes it does run cooler. That's the point. In honor of the 480 and the skipped 300 series they should up the stock clocks on the reference model until it nearly combusts. More performance and a free grill too!

As long as we don't get this shit

980ti

980 = 880ti

970 = 880 = 780ti

960ti = 870 = 780

960 = 860ti = 770 = 680

950ti = 860 = 760 = 670

950 = 850ti = 750ti = 660ti

Of course we all know they will, because Nvidia is the kind of rebranding.

This would be exactly the same thing that AMD did with their 8000 series GPUs..

The Radeon HD 8000 series GPUs were based on the 7000 series, they were only ever released in laptops, some OEM PCs, and in their APUs.. They then skipped the "real" 8000 series desktop GPUs (and 9000 series), and jumped straight to their new naming scheme, R7/R9 200...

It's not really too much of a surprise to see Nvidia do this.

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

The entire 700 series are rebranded 600 series, fuck even some of the lower end 600 series cards are rebranded 500 series cards. Also how much does Nvidia have to rebrand the GPU both the 460 and the 550ti use?

Source Kit Guru

While we were all sitting in our chairs, eagerly awaiting for some news on the 800 series GPUs, it may seem that the 800 series branding is going to be limited to the mobile GPU sector.

The 900 series will be still released by mid-September... so not exactly a deal breaker???

I don't know how I feel (regarding the accuracy of the information)... the original source, VideoCardz seems a bit sketchy
