Worst virus you have ever gotten

legend8887

Yeah,  God is ingrained in my brain though,  like there is litterally NO WAY no matter how hard I try to not beileve.   But right now I consider myself a non-practicing Christian, I occasionally go to church, rarely follow the catholic rules though :P

I was raised Catholic, but church was basically being dragged to a prison... I know all the Bible stories, went to all the classes, and never gained a goddamn thing... (pardon the pun :D)

Something about Windows Genuine Advantage, cleaned that shit right up though.

Something about 'Please Activate Your Copy of Windows', must of been a virus... 'fixed' that right up as well

Believe it or not but i have not gotten a virus/malware since i had my first laptop in 2003 before that i never really used PCs other than what was in work and those had every virus you could think of but i was not the IT guy i am now so i left that shit alone.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

It actually can absolutely be considered malware due to false positives:

According to an editorial on the arstechnica.com technology website, WGA reported around 22% of 500 million Windows computers as failing the test; of these less than 0.5% were due to pirate software, with the balance (over 20%, or 90% of all positives) related to non piracy issues. Microsoft "refused to comment on the rate of pure false positives" beyond saying it was "under 1%" (or as stated, at most around 5 million users affected).[39]

Many years ago we had a epidemic of the Sasser worm, this virus would infect a PC just by being connected to the internet, you didn't had to visit a bad site, download a file, nothing more than just being connected to the internet was enough to get infected.

An infected PC would scan random IP addresses, and when it found a pc would use a windows vulnerability to infect that new pc, wich would then start scanning more IP addresses.

Mystery is the source of all true science.

I remember I got one on my grandma's old Gateway Pentium 4 computer a while ago from trying to download a Pokemon ShinyGold ROM. I was 10 at the time and didn't know a lot about computers so yeah...

Life.exe is missing

First proper virus I got was that fake RCMP child porn virus that demands $200 via credit card to unlock your computer. Shut the thing down after a full day of working on it. Took the Kaspersky, AVG, and Bitdefender Rescue CDs (USB Versions) to wipe the F***** off my PC. Now I plan to keep those Rescue cds on me at all times. It took me hours of research to find these because I barely new anything about this stuff back then. :) Never Running Windows Security Essentials again.

I remember years and years ago when Vista was brand new, I downloaded a program called "PowerISO" and shortly afterwards, my OS was f**ked. Had to do a reinstall. :(

I can avoid viruses, but my friend cannot... I'd say the worst one he got was one that disabled his program uninstaller so you couldn't get rid of it. I laughed when I figured this out....

The W32.Sasser.worm was the worst I got. I knew nothing about avoiding viruses then, I didn't even know they existed until that stupid thing starting shutting down my computer.

One crashed my anti-virus.

But the worse I would say was in 6th grade-a looooong time ago on the school computers (running xp). I was on some site (don't remember) and all of a sudden it lagged, then some control panel or "my computer opened" and 2 red numbers appeared on the left of the window saying "threats detected xxx" x=number. It kept rising and rising, got into 3 digit numbers, warning were popping up and everything. It was like in the movies but real lol. I couldn't even turn off the computer because of errors saying it couldn't shut down, I did a hard shut down.

AIDs....wait....wut

:P

I laughed inappropriately to that. >w>;

To answer the OP question, it's been forever since I got a major virus that required reinstallation of Winders and this is coming from someone who doesn't even use anti virus anymore, I use common sense in not clicking every flash ad in existence.

Uh, I've never personally had any that were that bad. I did have a ransomware once, when I messed up, and didn't test the site in my VM. That was a minor bitch to get rid of. Worst I've had to deal with though, was a customer who's system I just wiped. Ran some scans, and each came back with 1k+ results... I wasn't going to deal with that. Just, burn it in a fire, lol.

I'm sure all of us have gotten some type of malware at some point. I know I have. One time my uncle came over and did a scan and found over 400 things on Malwarebytes. We've all had our bad days, so tell yours and what happened.

That one I got, but then I didn't because I know to pc doi >__<
