This hood though I bought it last year I installed it a week or so ago.  Just tried to wrap it two day's ago and failed horribly.

Roccat mouse: Surpassingly loud. Sold mine.

Logitech GL: You can't get any replacement parts. Take good care of your keycaps. It is just so unfortunate that Logitech thinks there otherwise awesome products aren't worth any repairs.

don't care how loud my mice are, i pretty much always have noise isolating earbuds in.

seems to be keycaps on ebay, not official ones obviously, but i've never abused any keyboard in the past to the point of needing to replace keycaps

Dell Precision M6700.

It was pretty cheap, only $250, for such a massive and imposing laptop. Really upgradable - 4 RAM slots, 3 slots for WLAN cards, 4 HDD bays, MXM GPU. Stuff you really wouldn't expect from a laptop.

I love dells designs from around that time, things like the latitude E6410 are my absolute favorite, square, professional, functional, and god damn are they easy to work on.B5C5C93A-85BF-48C6-A07B-1C4123EC18AA.jpeg.e351fc1a3824d6971e907b4b8d651e9b.jpeg

Sub Focus self titled album, had to order it from the UK since it never saw a physical release in the US, and the few places you can still buy it only offer MP3

Even the less legitimate methods turn zero results.

So I just ordered the actual CD for the CD quality version

Agreed. That's one of the reasons I bought this - worked on several Latitudes (mainly the E6540) and was impressed with their build quality, reliability, and potential longevity since almost every component is quite easily swappable. These older Precisions especially are plain, simple, and powerful - no one's going to mistake it for a gaming laptop due to the lack of tiny hinges and RGB, but at the same time, unlike their new Precisions, it doesn't look like a generic ultrabook.

Dude nice!  That's a great album!  I got a kick out of playing a track or two from it for my friend who is blind and cranked it, had a 12" spl and 10" acoustical Klipsch sub at the time and just watched him grin ear to ear while I made the walls shake lmao.  I'd play different tracks from different sub focus albums and point out which parts were hitting the 12" hard and which parts were hitting the 10" hard

When I used to drive a truck the track Timewarp was on my playlist of extremely stressful driving music, there are many fond memories of driving an 80,000lb, 72 foot long windsail in whiteout blizzards at high speeds, chain smoking and blasting hard drum and bass

Spoiler

Slam by Pendulum is another 10/10 that was on that playlist and was playing when I Tokyo drifted that gigantic bitch on a downhill curve on i44 and somehow recovered it.

Tried posting this in the retro forum and got told it isn't old enough yet. So it's coming here instead.

I bought my dads old gaming computer off him for 50 dollars. So I opened it up today to see what was inside (definitely a lot of dust though. Yuk). He built it himself about 9 years ago, at least it was all compatible. Ignore all the dust, haven't given it the clean it needs/deserves. What should I turn this computer into? IMG_20220618_092537792_HDR.thumb.jpg.7aa8497882e53a1765175c585a81bb21.jpg

I'd love to get an E6410 at some point even though I have absolutely no use for one because of the design. Even though my E4300 and E4310 were quirky pieces of shit when it comes down to it, I still love how they look.

Wireless peripherals are awesome. Also agree that it's not worth it to go wireless for audio.

I have the same KB but i wouldn't buy the G915TKL anymore. There are better and at the same time cheaper options available. It just isn't worth $200 anymore. Maybe $80 compared in the current keyboard market. A great alternative is the Nuphy Air75 for around $110 that is pretty much universally better.

They are suprisingly brittle because they use 2 plastic hooks instead of the plus-shaped stem on normal switches/keycaps. I haven't managed to break one yet in about 2 years of use but they will eventually brake - if only because you regularly clean your keyboard.

Agreed. I made the switch to a wireless mouse not too long ago and it's a huge improvement. So much better not having the cable drag and it lasts a few weeks between charges (Logitech G703). I have wireless ear buds and they sound fine when listening to music but the delay when watching videos is atrocious, makes it completely unusable. Might just be bluetooth ear buds or the specific ones that I have that are bad for latency. It would be nice to be able to stand up and walk away from my desk without ripping my head off when I forget to take off my headset though.
