$69 iMac DV SE finally arrived. No peripherals but those I got a couple of years ago with a laptop turn out to be exactly the ones that would have come with it.

Seems it was used until 2010 but basically only for writing letters and for e-mail...

I imagine you're aware of this, but if you haven't replaced the PRAM battery, you may want to think about doing it soon. They are notorious for leaking after about 20 years. My 2001 iMac needed one a couple of years back, you can finagle the old one out without doing much more than opening the access panel, but they can fall in. I chickened-out and took the bottom of the case off when I did mine.

My Current Setup:

AMD Ryzen 5900X

Kingston HyperX Fury 3200mhz 2x16GB

MSI B450 Gaming Plus

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

EVGA RTX 3060 Ti XC

Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB

WD 5400RPM 2TB

EVGA G3 750W

Corsair Carbide 300R

Arctic Fans 140mm x4 120mm x 1

Redragon K631 PRO keyboard and Tangerine 62G switches.  The keyboard is hotswappable with 3 and 5 pin switches, I've already applied them to the keyboard.  Love how these switches feel!

Been wanting it for like 2 years. Held myself back due to price, got some sort of discount for this one.

Yea I know there's a bigger refresh rate out there, but I need to have type-c input & good gamut as well. Laptop is 165hz and I don't play competitive games anyway.

Not to mention I don't really like huge monitor feet, this one's kinda perfect.

Although I do kinda hate how asymmetrical the looks of the back side is. But oh well, not like I'm gonna have to look at it often.

Now to rent calibrating device or pay someone to come calibrate for me. :x

One of, if not the best looking bits on the market. Nano coated like endmills.

$2-3 per bit 😕 Bought them for the most common sizes/heads. For everything else Wera toolcheck.

Bought a new monitor and new headphonesimage.png.d92fdb436b9f5c06a69a86ec5bd53dc5.png

I wasn't sold on the curve, but at 32", this is quite nice while sitting at arms length away from it.

Spoiler

And I replaced the pads on the Nova Pro Wireless. There's some sort of nub inside the cups that was rubbing against ears and it was uncomfortable.

Replaced them with these thick pads. It really does improve the sound isolation, too.

Spoiler

image.png.f029ce434d6129b5822b31d2ec167f19.png

I quite like the headphones, the ANC almost remove my pedestal fan's noise completely and I had zero issues in games with it. Unlike my friend who got some Sennheiser headphones and he had issues with the ANC fucking up when he was "communicating" with his mic.

All that said, I will be returning the monitor.

It ... Is not what I was expecting out of a 165hz panel. There's a dizzying amount of ghosting/smearing when moving things around on the screen.

(potato quality, but you can clearly see the smearing around the blacks of the avatars)

I would definitely get another 32inch monitor in the future... but I'm returning this as soon as I get the vesa mount adapter for my old AOC U2879VF monitor, to put on the monitor arm I got with this 32inch monitor.
