Why does everyone in this forum love Windows so much?

Builder

It's mainly software directed at office and industry use I was referring to. But that's only the case because most offices run windows.

Side note. I still hate the way mac handles windows. It's terrible. I usually remedy the problem by using a script to add a maximize button in place of the switch one and bing the switch desktop function to a mouse sidebutton. Love the switch desktop thing.

I tell you something, if directx were somehow completely ported over to linux or MS made it open source (which will never happen) windows would probably die among enthusiasts, or at least see significantly less use.

I agree. I have this awesome app called BetterSnapTool which makes windows snap like they do in Windows 7. Best $0.99 I've ever spent.

All my friends tell me I should use the switch desktop thing more, I guess I still retain a lot of Windows habits.

I'm not sure about porting over DirectX. I was conversing with some people in another thread who had this strange fanatical devotion to Microsoft. I agree that OpenGL doesn't really come up to scratch with DirectX in raw performance. Maybe Apple will make their own high performance, low-level API for x86, like they're doing on ARM with Metal. Honestly though I'd prefer if there was just a fast open solution though.

Agreed.

Also, what company in their right mind would use Linux for productivity if not only for coding? MacOS and Windows are king for that exact reason. They don't need to emulate any program, ffs support for all programs comes right out of the damn box

Sure it's free, but are you really going to teach every single one of your employees how to use it?

Yah. I used the desktop switch for a while and I really like it. It works really well, and bound to a mouse button I actually like it more for high res screens where I don't typically run windows full screen.

I really would run only mint or Debian if directx could be used on linux without emulation.

I'm on a laptop, and Logitech's Mac drivers suck hard. There's a 50+ page thread in their support forums on the subject.

What does Windows do that the other operating systems can't? Why did you put up with having to learn how to use Windows 8? What keeps you coming back to Windows? I want to know.

The amount of games compatible on Mac OS and Linux doesn't compare to how many games are compatible with Windows. Windows is so much better, anyways.

Never heard of it I'll look at it! Oddly enough, I was just in the process of putting linux back on my system.

And what exactly is Openbox?

It's a fact. The difference is closing, yes, but not from a lot of AAA devs. Not to mention it's a mountain vs a molehill, so we got a ways to go.

This isn't a place for unsupported opinions. If we wanted you to sit here and scream "Windows is best!!!!!" all day, we'd ask you to.

I for one, expect facts backed up by evidence. I'm sure I'm not alone in this regard.

What? I don't have to support an opinion, that's what makes it an opinion. I don't know why you can't seem to accept someone's opinion and leave it at that.

I hate Windows. If Linux could play all the games I own, I wouldn't think twice about abandoning Windows.

So...games. That's why I keep going back to Windows.

I think you should try it it's quite an experience and you'll learn a lot. I totally understand if you don't want to switch to it a lot of people don't but good to mess with. In like virtualbox or something.
