how fast can you type?

Frank Brown

Cant recall the nameb (i dont think its called touch type... or is it? Because apparently touch type should be not looking right?!), but its benefit is that by leaving your 10 fingers in the middle row of the keyboard you will be able to access other keys without having to move your hands, and if i went by what this technique promises, a person who can do 100 wpm would do over 170 with this speciality "easy peasy". Problem is learning but i think this link might be it https://www.tckpublishing.com/how-to-double-or-triple-your-typing-speed-take-our-typing-speed-test-and-prove-it-for-yourself/.

I think that's basically what I do, actually. Just tested again to make sure, I got a 105 WPM (albeit with 6 errors). Pretty sure that I basically already do this.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Do this:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Your score: 170 CPM (that is 34 WPM)

as someone who has to look at the keyboard to type, i think that's pretty good.

Tbf, 35 wpm isn't that slow :)

I think 35 WPM is a bit above average for people that don't touch type.

I can't touch type for my life.  I have to look at the keyboard.  Having said that, I guess I'm not bad at typing this way. :P

Hey dont worry tough, your better than 99% of people anyways. I dont think i can break the 120 wpm barrier yet, but its not like we practice type racer or alile everyday for 2 or 3 hours straight xD.

And i dont like the method either, its so prone for misses i cant even describe how it would be for me.

  • 9 months later...

My typing speed is at a solid 45 wpm. My parents are not that impressed as me. They say I need to improve my typing speed even more. Any tips on how to? Any software or website that can help? Seriously, it would mean a lot to me if I could impress my parents.

Certain people are just slower, my boyfriend types so slowly it drives me insane.... and he even does programming for a college... I don't know what you could do more than just get used to typing more.
