As a techie what is your ultimate show of trust

JAW96

I never let anyone use my pc unless they 100% need to, which is not that often.

Just wondering to all of you that says that to let someone touch your computer is the ultimate sign of thrust: If the PC case is closed, what can they actually break without wanting it? It's not like they are going to throw the monitor out the window or sit on the keyboard... (I think :ninja: )

Just curious :)

As for myself: Probably to talk with someone about games... I won't talk with you about it if I don't like/trust you :P

For me it's the fingerprints. For some reason everyone I know but me walks around with vaseline on their hands so every time they touch it it gets covered in a film of filth that is a pain to get rid of. And with cases being made of aluminium, fingerprints are a nightmare to get off them. My dad touched my monitor screen when he was showing me something yesterday. Boy did he wish he hadn't touched it...

I guess that's my show of trust too :) I let my best friend play on my PC when he comes over. In fact I've persuaded him to build a PC of his own now! He can also use my phone and iPad, but I haven't quite got to the stage where I allow him to do it before washing his hands first though :P

What's mine is his and vice versa, pretty much...

To me its letting someone use my PC. Letting my sister use it to play games on was a big risk to me but she didn't break anything so she can work away.

you just quoted Destiny, lol  :P

That one secret folder. You know the one. The weird one.

That one that's labeled "nothing"

Letting people see THAT folder.

Even though nothing in it is illegal here in Sweden (although a ton of stuff is in the gray zone), it could still ruin my life (and I mean like, not being able to get jobs, being heavily monitored, people not trusting me etc).

Luckily for me, my friends are not only okay with it but also has some interest in the same stuff.

Sorry but this sounds kinda creepy if you have no idea what's illegal in Sweden.

For me it's letting someone use my pc.

Well the law is up for interpretation. There was a pretty famous court case about it which ended with the person being found not guilty (and a high ranked police said something along the lines of "this is good, now we can focus on real criminals instead" when the case was over).

That's why I said some of it is in a gray zone. There are no clear rules for it, but people have been accused and found not guilty for possessing it.

I can see how that can be a legal issue, not quiet child porn, but kinda on the edge

I don't really let people touch my PC, it's not only password protected, but also fully encrypted with bitlocker, so you can't just use a third party tool to remove the password off the windows session, you can't even access windows or any of the HDD of the PC without my USB key, which I always carry with my house keys. If I leave my PC alone, I either close it or lock my session, even if it's just for 2 minutes.

If I do let anyone touch it, I'm either sitting in the chair, letting them use the mouse and keyboard from the side, making it as unconfortable as possible for them so they finish quicker or I'm right behind them, always looking to make sure they don't F things up.

And then I clean the keyboard and mouse, because I knew for a fact their hands are dirty because they most likely didn't wash up after going to the bathroom, or worse. This is my sanctuary where I spend hours each day, I want to keep it clean, unfortunately others don't understand that.

Well, aside from letting them open the drawer where I keep the condoms, lube, mineral oil, and rope...

You're and your are not the same. Neither are their, there, and they're. Defiantly and Definitely are definitely not the same. Definately and Rediculous are not words, and you should feel bad for misspelling them. If English is your first language, you don't have a learning disorder, and you get any of these wrong, you are making the entire forum slightly dumber by doing so. Please take the extra three seconds to type properly, and have a nice day.

So I have a cousin who has hit a rough spot in her life and in passing she was talking about how much she loves the fallout franchise, but doesn't get to play it often, and that got me thinking about how I have fallout NV installed, so I have been downloading and installing mods throughout today to have the game ready for tomorrow so she can play, and that has me thinking about another thing, this is also a big leap for me because I never let ANYONE touch my PC.. it is not something I do, I'm the kind of person who lives with family and still has a PC password, and keeps aware of any changes to my setup to know whether or not anyone has tried getting on

And morning and afternoon and evening, if you're doing it properly. Seriously, you have no idea how much fun you can have with some 1/4 inch nylon braid from the hardware store.

There comes a time in every mans life when he has to let his doctor fondle his balls, his man beans if you will.  After that letting someone else use your pc ain't that big of a deal.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.
