I hope he stuck to what I wrote lol, I will find out tomorrow when I watch the vod

It was kinda bad as he encouraged people to join while mentioning the prizes, when obviously nobody CAN join "the event" now.

This is the kind of shoutout we needed BEFORE the event.

If they manage to get sponsors to supply prizes again I could see that encouraging people, as the minimum requirements means you don't HAVE to spend more than the value of the best prize to qualify. 😉 (remember that future self)

This is the kind of shoutout we needed BEFORE the event.

I feel like it’s a commercial on tv: “There are great prizes to be won! Come join!” And then you get to the store: “Oh sorry you have to be signed up 3 weeks before the commercial came out”

Then what’s the point of the freaking commercial 😂😂😂

Poor Luke, always having to correct Linus misspeaking.  It just seems odd timing to talk about the event, at least the way he did, it felt more like a pre-event announcement than the pre-event announcement did.

@GOTSpectrum Can you tell us what he was SUPPOSED to say?  Though I appreciate the answer may be no in order to not make him look even worse for going so off-script.

Yeah, sorry if it seemed a bit salty. But I mostly feel bad for the people here, actually being passionate about this, trying to get more contributors.

Don`t be sorry. I just wanted to lighten the mood a little. The shoutout simply was a month too late, but it was still really good. Because some people might still start to fold and join our ranks next year.

FWIW there’s usually 2 yearly events. A Spring Sprint that is an unofficial event. Has some prizes but isn’t eligible for event badges on the forum here and the winter event that is this one. If you want to be around and participate for the main event for the year sign ups are always around the same time.

More people is always better 😉

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

oh wow sorry I didn't know about this earlier! I won't win anything, but cranking out some folding to help!

It'll actually be better if you disabled or removed the CPU slot for folding, it actually slows the RTX 4090 down a decent amount. You could lower the number of threads the CPU slot is allow to use but honestly it's so little compared to the 4090 it's mostly just extra heat and power usage.

While it’s too late to sign up for this event, for future reference as long as you meet the minimum daily requirements everyone is equally eligible for prizes.

Minimum Participation Requirements For Prizes

20 Days with activity*, 500,000 Points & 40 WU

Beat those requirements and you can win. Anything beyond that is friendly competition.
