So on my host PC, I've updated through Windows Update and open Task Manager anywhere from the taskbar isn't working. I thought maybe my OS is messed up or this update isn't applying correctly from Windows Update.

  1. I downloaded the latest Win11 from Microsoft and ran it on a VM.
  2. This latest version of Win11 as of Oct 20, 2022, does not comes with this update, so I went and downloaded the update as a standalone file.
  3. Manually installed the update and restarted the VM
  4. Open Task Manager anywhere from taskbar is still not working. But tabs in File Explorer is working just like my host PC, when I did it through Windows Update.

I think this update is necessary for my clients, updating them one by one gonna slow down my work flow.

They can just update on their own from Windows Update?

Yes, you have Windows 11 22H2, but not the first Feature update codename Moment 1.

It will be a Cumulative Update

Yea it seems hit or miss with the features still. Got the tabbed Explorer window but recording option in the snipping tool and the Task Manager from the taskbar is still MIA. Really weird launch

I agree. I can't validate anything as I have all the system features already as all my Win11 systems (2) are under the Insider Program. Typically, MS release notes are accurate.

For the apps, it will be coming sometime at the end of Oct they said. I have the new updated Photo app (which I actually like so far), but not the updated Snipping Tool on my side.

I don't understand why Microsoft are having such a hard time figuring out a consistent update scheme, consolidating on one or two ways of updating OS components, and then release accurate patch notes.

Is that really too much to ask? Is this part of the Feature Experience Pack or that a separate thing? Is this being delivered to everyone or just "seekers" (which is a term Microsoft uses for people who get updates early, but aren't part of one of the multiple insider rings, which is a whole other clusterfuck).

I also heard some of these features will be enabled for everyone (like tabbed explorer), but some features now or maybe in the future, will not be enabled on some editions of Windows such as Enterprise or Education.

Anyway, nice that they are finally enabling tabs in Explorer.

Not a fan of the push for even more ads  suggestions in the OS. Because let's be honest, they aren't doing the "call with Teams" popup because people want it or have been demanding it. They are doing it to try and get people to use Teams. Their attempts to make Consumer Teams (which is another mess) has failed so far so they are now more aggressively going to push it on people.

I absolutely hate this behavior some companies such as Microsoft have where they try and push their unpopular services by pushing them hard in their popular services and products. I think right now Microsoft is the worst offender in this category and I wish they would stop. It makes it feel like I am at constant battle with my PC when it constantly tries to manipulate me into doing Microsofts bidding against my will.

Are you clients Power Users who knows their way using PowerShell or they're just some regular Joe and Jane that basically uses their PC to browse the internet and watch Netflix.

Upgraded, interesting to see they have a built in video editor. Looks pretty fleshed out for an extremly user friendly. Can see it being useful for kids who want to make social media content or someone not tech savy to throw together a basic family video.
