No point in going with the 6700k, the 4790k is cheaper(esp. if factoring in boards and ram) and gives the same performance.

 I would say 6700. But I am not the best to listen to.

then the 5820k will be better

I figure just stock up on ram then which ever is cheaper.

I'm buying a copy next week of undying. It's one of the greatest PC games ever made, and one of the best horror games ever made.

Horror games... I can't remember when the last time I played one that was scary.. Probably never.

I did play a good slightly horror rpg on wii though that was touchy.. Was about some kid all lone in the world... More or less.

nothing else is really worth it, especially not the 5820k

the fact that you're not going to get that much benefit out of the X99 platform for the cost, let alone see that big of a performance difference between 4c/6c for your workload (especially given lower 6c clocks)

 

use the price difference and swap out that sketchy af PSU and SSD if you feel so inclined

 

also keep in mind, X99 as a whole is "feature" ridden

possibility of headaches ahead is worth mentioning

 

mainstream Z170 is much better refined
