Corsair 5000D AIRFLOW - Airflow questions.

MultiGamerClub

Its between this case and a Lian LI XL just for good space, but seeing as the Lian Li is more expensive and i want to see or learn if this option is a good choice too, will this airflow be adequate for a 3080ti / 5900x in the future?

Will run this:

3X QL120 at the top for the cpu-aio

3X QL120 front air intake

3X QL120 Side intake

1X QL120 backside air outtake

2X QL120 below the gpu bottom intake

Air example:

1177908_3.thumb.jpg.414a1c90f4a5435f21badeb5d58781e9.jpg

This is atleast how i hope to set it up, either with a commander pro / to find a fan-controller than supports a few pwm connections.

Good/Bad idea for intake and outtake options or should this be changed?

Good luck.

My 5000D did not do well with a 3080 ti and was replaced with a Lian li o11 dynamic that is doing very well.

The problem is the hot air seems to stay below the GPU.

The 2 fans below the GPU will not work since as the GPU draws more power the PSU heats up and makes the situation worse.  It would be better to block off the vents altogether.

With the Lian li o11 dynamic there is no PSU below the GPU so fans below the GPU work.

I also fount that fans on the side have zero effect so if you don't have a radiator there you can leave them out.

My 5000D is being used in an older system that uses a 2080 ti and my 3080 ti is in the Lian li o11 dynamic.

20211005_111508.thumb.jpg.ca7582cb419c9a6852577d6b35ed2971.jpg20210906_072054.thumb.jpg.146d2d5316eadb375bd8ff3369f1a38d.jpg

Now it has the 2 Corsair fans that came with the 5000d on the bottom because that is all it needs.

I noticed that i cant install 2 fans below the gpu in 5000D Airflow as the holes for screws doesnt exist 😞

Oh well, its either the XL or Dynamic in range now

Probably a mute point as you're going to change the case anyway, but cable ties will hold your fans in place below the GPU. You've just got move the PSU out to get to them below the shroud.

Should do this in my current R6 case.. Not screw holes there, but this could work with my incoming P12 PWM PST fans.. Supposed to come in tomorrow.

Cable ties are a case modders best friend eh.

I used them to mount an extra front fan to my prior case. The fan just 'floated' there, held tightly in place...

Might look stupid, but if it works.. It aint stupid 🙂

I would go with Lian Li SL120 or AL120 fans, the rgb controller & amount of cables will be a lot easier to manage

Anything that connects to one header for multiple fans should do the trick.

The 3080 ti stays cool

It would not work anyway.

The holes in the PSU shroud may be a design flaw since hot are from the PSU raised under load.

I bought the Dynamic because I had already waisted lots of money on the 5000d and I had just bought the 3080 ti($1750). So lack of funds.

I like the XL more so it will probably be my next case.

As others mention already, if u do go for the 5000D, don't do the bottom fans - opposite effect. Also don't do 6 fans front+front-side, just 3 x 120mm at the front is ok, or if the temps don't rise (they might), put on the side for aesthetics reasons to look at the fans.

Don't use 3 top exhaust, ideally just the 1x120mm back exhaust and 1x120mm top-furthest back. if u have to for aesthetics at most just two on top closer to the back.

If the GPU is having issues either way, remove 1 additional PCI-E metal bracket above the GPU, and 1-2 below, and check temps gain, this should prevent a hot pocket from forming.

but like @jones177said good luck, even with all of this you're probably looking at having toundervolt the GPU.

I have a 360mm aio i will keep on this journey, but lately ive heard it make strange data noises and not splash noises..

But its been a year and it still kicks good so, ill have to see.

gpu is actually doing 73c with 85% fan maxed out and im ok with that.

Will probably underclock it a bit, not sure if i need undervolt. Ive tried making the curve in the msi afterburner several times lower but with same clockspeed but it just wont do it last time i tried on a 2080 super. Not touching that shit..

Its either 3x intake for rad or 3x exhaust top.. Not gonna get rid of the 360mm aio x) (Even tho a NH-D15 looks tempting lol)

If the fans was 1/3 of the cost their at, seeing as the fans only has rgb on the sides and not the fan itself..

Looks like a bloated alienware with rgb on the sides.

I think i'll go for P12's in the start when i dont care about RGB and switch to QL120's or a similar pwm fan that supports connecting fans together at a more reasonable price.

@MultiGamerClubDo not get the old UNI SL120, they have horrible performance-to-noise. the impeller size is basically that of a 90mm fan, and not 120. Get the new AL120 which have less of a frame, larger impeller and fins, and much better noise-to-performance.

As for if to use AIO top or bot, if u have room on both sides, it's an easy choice, see whether GPU runs too hot or CPU runs too hot, and do front intake if the  GPU temps are ok, and do top Exhaust with AIO if the GPU temps are bad.

GPU temps are 70-73c just now.. And ive disabled the front bottom intake fan now so.. it will probably only increase.. Should plug it back in tho, even with its dying noises 😛

I consider that bad.. But thats mostly from seeing my brothers 6800 XT doing 58c at full blast so maybe im a bit jealous from his temps hehe.

Thanks for the information, still a bit unsure on werether i should go for RGB fans with PWM for daisy-chained fans or just find a decent fan controller.

Dynamic has plenty of space

Taken from my build log here. I go into detail about vertical mounting further in the post and how it''s actually viable in this case.

I've looked at the pcie 4 bracket but it blocks off any soundcard or network card.. Which i both use.. Because realtek's sound keeps dipping out on windows 10 every half year and im tired of that batshit quality be overall shit so i switched to a soundcard.. Maybe getting the B550-F with wifi must be a must next time i upgrade if i really want to use the bracket to not get too close to the glass 😕

Also yeah, it looks spacy.. Very split between Dynamic and XL version.

Useful threads: PSU Tier List | Motherboard Tier List | Graphics Card Cooling Tier List ❤️

Baby: MPG X570 GAMING PLUS | AMD Ryzen 9 5900x /w PBO | Corsair H150i Pro RGB | ASRock RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming OC (3020Mhz & 2650Memory) | Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB DDR4 (4x8GB) 3600 MHz | Corsair RM1000x |  WD_BLACK SN850 | WD_BLACK SN750 | Samsung EVO 850 | Kingston A400 |  PNY CS900 | Lian Li O11 Dynamic White | Display(s): Samsung Oddesy G7, ASUS TUF GAMING VG27AQZ 27" & MSI G274F

I also drive a volvo as one does being norwegian haha, a volvo v70 d3 from 2016.

Reliability was a key thing and its my second car, working pretty well for its 6 years age xD

If you're going ATX and a relatively normal "tall" card, (reference height) then you'll be okay with the O11D. People generally run into issues when they try to put EATX boards or very tall cards into their systems (the PCI-E cables on the cards press against the glass without special low profile adapters, not to mention making it hard for cards to exhaust the air out those sides of their heat sinks)

The Red Devil 5700XT shown would have had issues being horizontally mounted, so vertical mount was actually the best option. But since you noted that it would take up space for a sound card, I'd probably lean towards the XK for the flexibility for all of your PCI-E devices.

afaik the argb connector is JST 3 pin...

options is limited as controller only think its controlling fan rgb leds

Today I got my Corsair 5000D Airflow Tempered Glass Mid-Tower ATX PC Case and this case is big enough to fit anything pretty much with a set up that fits up to 10 fans.

I mean my RTx2080 Rog Strix Oc Edition which is 3fan long is small in this case...(I wish I could get a RTX 3080 for a decent price)

Not to mention that Corsair quality is something else for sure :)

I switch today from  a Corsair CARBIDE 400C Compact Mid-Tower Case which is to small and not so great with air flow...

So worth it this 5000D and I sure recommend it...
