Corsair 5000D AIRFLOW - Airflow questions.

MultiGamerClub
On 10/5/2021 at 1:06 PM, MultiGamerClub said:

How is the airflow in the dynamic? Currently looking at it but it looks slightly smaller than the XL version and without a space for outtake in the backside.

I noticed that i cant install 2 fans below the gpu in 5000D Airflow as the holes for screws doesnt exist 😞

Oh well, its either the XL or Dynamic in range now

i recommend the 011 xl or mini because both can do a taller tower cooler and have a back fan. the 011d can mount 1-2 80mm fans but the mesh is restrictive is it enough i dont no.

mini needs an itx psu thow...

the mini air when it comes out will be even better for tower coolers not so much aio but might help a little.

I have dyslexia plz be kind to me. dont like my post dont read it or respond thx

also i edit post alot because you no why...

Mini is out of the question, and the xl is 250€ at the moment here..

Guess i'll be going for a 5000X and cut off the metal inside so airflow can enter beneath the metal cage or plate covering the psu..

Will also take another users suggestion and ziptie some 120 fans on that mesh opening so the gpu gets more air..

Only case that has proper openings there, unless i find another case with all features.. But in this market i have my doubts.

When i say cut of metal, i mean not the entire plate covering stuff.. I only mean the one blocking air. See below:

edit: Cant do mini as i have the RM1000x.

5000D airflow is fine if you get good fans, its def better at airflow for cpu over gpu though.

That said my 3080ftw3 rarely ever goes above 80c, i have 6 of noctuas best fans intaking in the front, so my case is stuffed with air.

Hehe, ive just mounted a 140mm noctua fan blowing outwards.. I have no fans blowing inwards and somehow my temps have stayed the same.

Highest my SUPRIM X 3080 Ti goes to is 73c still, no idea why it didnt go up.. Even folding and playing games its still under 74-75 😐

Might need to save up for some Noctua fans and remove the front-cover for my R6 case 🙂

I have good experience with 5000D Airflow and don't see what all the negative press is about it.

I have:

AIO mounted on side 3xML120s push intake

3xSP120 intake front

3xSP120 exhaust top

1xSP120 exhaust rear

With a 3080 I haven't had problems; temps are cool under 70c for core, 80c for hotspot, and under 90c for memory junction temp

Split between the commander core than came with the AIO or the lightning node that came with the fans, and icue

dont hate the case jsut it seems people were having temp problems with there 30xx gpus and thought it was because of no bottom intake. you could still probably get lower temps with bottom intake thow i still stand by that. might also depends on what 30xx gpu you got...

This case doesn't need a bottom fan and it's fact. As you can see on my picture I can feel the air blowing strong out of the case by those gaps and that is under the gpu, I have a RTx2080 Rog Strix with Oc and it runs with good temps plus I have Oc on my cpu to 5ghz and it runs with good temps too.. the overall flow of the air inside this case is excellent unless you running cheap fans. I am running 3 fans in the front panel Corsair AF120 Low noise.

Note, this is my experience with the case!!

thats a 215 wat vs a 450 wat...big difference. not only that they noranly par it with a hi wat cpu to boot.

absolutely there is a big difference but the point here is that there is a massive air flow on the case in the lower part of it that makes this case not needing a bottom fan, the air flows very high inside of it. other thing is which one has a 450w TDP? because 3060 is not, 3070 not either, 3080 maybe? 3090 some over400w ....

I have no air intake on my R6 case now and its below 73c..

If 5000D/5000X is that much worse im having questions..

Also whats with the "no" instead of "know", like the comment above was written ignoring half the keyboard?

The 5000D airflow is not worse, I have it and if you understand how the air flows inside a case then you can see that this case is full of air inside of it if you use the proper fans, only thing I think its bad is that it only comes with one fan on the front and one on the rear for the price it cost should come with 3 fans in take at least even if where bad ones lol

You also can watch some reviews on youtube like #gamersnexus for example 🙂

every included case fan from any case brand i have ever seen was a terrible fan that should only be used if you literally cant afford another dollar on a real case fan.

Unless your extreme budgeting I wouldn't even consider included case fans part of a cases appeal, honestly i wish they would all stop including them and reduce prices.

BTW 5000D airflow has a mesh issue on the side, when it gets dirty intake fans can make contact with the mesh and make noise.

you no what if my x58 mb fits in my lianli 011 air ill do a test. front fans vs bottom. i dont have a hot gpu thow but i should get a difference in temps regardless.

looks like my thermalright ultra 120 is 166mm and the lian li is 155mm so ill have to get a new cooler. trying to decide from Scythe Mugen 5 Rev.B, Scythe Fuma 2, or Scythe Kotetsu Mark 2

My case is fine with a GTX 1080 ti and a 2080ti.

The problems comes with cards like the 3080 ti and 3090.

I now use 6 Corsair SP120s, 3 Corsair ML120(radiator) and 2 Noctuas for exhaust so no cheap fans.

I did fix my 5000d by adding 3 more intake fans.

The extra cost does put the case up against cases I know can do a better job but may be less pleasing to the eye.

The case will be getting my ROG Strix 3080 OC that does use 450 watts overclocked but I expect it will do fine with it.

So far I have had no noise issues. It is in an area were it does not collect dust but now it is "fixed" thanks to your posts it will be soon.

FYI, i just migrated my sys to 5000D airflow from o11d

if your cable management skills are good, you can probably still use 2x HDD bay nearby your PSU

PROS:

  • lots of space for air cooling setup
  • very easy cable management, i have lots of stuff connecting to my aquacomputer quadro for watercooling temp+fan control
  • image.png.ae42dd567f53afaed826940c9c985ee1.png

CONS:

  • only comes with 2x 120mm pwm fans (store 1, use another for rear exhaust)
  • limited space for rads (so no 420 rads or thiccboi 60mm rads)
  • my 280mm top rad is very near the top of my mobo (it can fit 360mm long rads with 30mm thickness)
  • side rads only for 30mm thick ones, thicker ones can front mount unless u remove the bottom drive bay plastic cover (max only 360mm rads)

Good to know it fits, no idea if my masterliquid is 30mm but it's not that big 😅

5000D probably will hold in my case, but I'm probably ly gonna go for the x version for the rgb and a 3 intake and 3 outwards ratio for 1:1.

Might add fans below gpu with zip ties and a rear exhaust for maximum airflow too if it's possible.

Fallen in love with rgb too much now, a-rgb is kinda meh but if it's possible to set it to one color I'm happy.

Reliability was a key thing and its my second car, working pretty well for its 6 years age xD

I have no air intake on my R6 case now and its below 73c..

If 5000D/5000X is that much worse im having questions..

Also whats with the "no" instead of "know", like the comment above was written ignoring half the keyboard?

Good temps for a 420W load. Or are you by any chance running it under 300W:s?

your 360 AIO will fit on the top, i'm using 2x 140 fans with 280mm rad so it's a bit tight

for my case i have 6x 120mm fan as intake (front & sides), 1x 120mm & 2x 140mm fan as exhaust (top & rear)

i can definitely feel the air coming out of the back & top, i tested the exhaust using incense sticks

all my LEDs are ARGB, but i only set them to static yellow 😂
