Update:

I got stuff in the mail!

My cables from @ericlee30 got here yesterday and so did a 290X+2 waterblocks/backplates for them. The other one will be here tomorrow and it looks like they'll be in the R4 until my Merlin stops procession... it's been almost 2 weeks, tonight I'm going to send an email.

Anyway, pictures:

The backplate doesn't matter, it's the same as the 780 one I had

The one that should be here tomorrow is from MSI. I'll watercool them after testing both in CF, with pictures of course. I can't wait to get this hairdryer off of my card. I did get the Sapphire to 1150MHz core clock and then tried for 1200............................ I hit 100C and my screen went red omg it was horrible. So no more OCing until I watercool.

See you tomorrow!

Update:

eh

My second 290X arrived today and I installed both waterblocks, but not before measuring to see if my CF pipe between the cards is long enough. So I can't use them until that gets here :( Also, CaseLabs is still processing my order and I'm kind of debating if I still even want the stupid thing. $500 and it takes 2 weeks+I haven't gotten a response about what the hell is going on. That makes me mad. So... I'm not sure what to do. I might go with it since I already have a 480 rad. Good news kinda though, since I have nothing to do for the next few days, I'll take my motherboard out and paint the heatsinks tomorrow. Yey.

If you are looking to get a 290X, I would not recommend MSI and would direct you to Sapphire immediately. My MSI card had:

Warranty void sticker

THE WORST THERMAL PASTE APPLICATION EVER DONE ON THIS PLANET

It was so baddddddd. Thermal paste was caked around the GPU and everywhere else.

Anyway, here's the 290Xs+blocks:

CF Hairdryers, you think I actually use these things to play games on? No no no, just dry my hair.

Whenever I get the motherboard painting done I'll update. See you then!

Patience, young grasshopper, two weeks is nothing! I have had waiting

periods of months for certain parts. :D

Also, if there's maybe an issue with production or sth like that, I

recommend stopping by the Caselabs section on OCN, sometimes they

communicate issues there.

yeey, I'm the 50th follower.

And great job, I hope I will ever be able to build a pc like this.

I am a "stupid" 17 year old that can solve a rubik's cube in under 30 seconds and that is getting into pc gaming.

Thumbs up?
