I knew I was misreading that - For a sec I though it was "Free trial of Ransomeware"......
So I guess if you don't take the survey it does it's thing anyway?

Seriously, programs like Kaperski, Norton, McAfee and others are things that can make a machine crawl - In fact any program that's always running in the background can but for them to do as intended they have to.

I'll mention I've never heard anything "Bad" about PCMatic but then again I've no experience with them either so TBH I can't say how good or bad it is. 

Malwarebytes is good at least - I can say that from experience.

Don't plug your backup drive in if you think there's a chance you have ransomware.

Yeah…

comman sense and windows defender is all you need.

maybe a malwarebytes scan once in a while, but other than that it’s perfectly fine for normal use
