Should I risk getting an aio for my first build?

Parzival120
Go to solution Solved by Electronics Wizardy,

Whats the rest of the system? I wouldn't get a aio unless you already have pretty high end parts.

The risk is pretty low normally.

So I am building my first pc and I wanted to know should I risk getting an aio? What are the chances of it leaking?

Chances are low, but never 0. Air coolers tend to be quieter and cheaper.

most good AIOs shouldn't have leaking problems. But, whether you should get an AIO is more than just will it leak. What is the rest of your system? Are you overclocking?

my signiture was cool, but its a lie now

The chances of an AIO leaking on you are pretty less, so I wouldn't call it risky. I myself have had an aio for well over a year now, and it hasn't leaked on me, but you could aslo look at getting good cpu coolers which perform as much, if not better, than aios. like the NH D15 from Noctua as an example

Risk? Shoot dude i've been using AIO's since my first Corsair H50 in 2009. Never has one leaked and they're no longer an exotic option. Pretty commonplace these days.

Noctua DH15 performs better than a lot of AIO's with zero chances of leaking, because its a giant air cooling heatsink.

If your case is big enough, its $99/amazon, theres a black edition which costs slightly more.

I had a kraken x73 briefly, it didn't leak or anything, but between the anxiety and the fans being loud and the high temps i got rid of it.

If you're worried about it at all, just get an air cooler.

Id stil with the nh-u12s here. The 5600x doesn't make much heat, so you really don't need a high end cooling solution.

Here’s me thinking one of the benefits of AIO is the lower noise compared to air coolers…

So it’s just the high end AIOs that emit less noise eh?

high-end AIOs or AIOs with good fans are more quiet than even nhd15. (for same temps)
