I think they're banned in America due to safety and health reasons. Dude, those lasers are powerful. they might be able to split a human in half, AFAIK. Besides, I've never seen one on the market.

According to these guys http://www.wickedlasers.com/arctic all their lasers are legal in America. And some of their lasers are up to 2W in power (that would be 2000mW)

What the law does say about > 5mW lasers, is that you can not sell and promote as them as laser pointers.

Just don't use it if you risk blinding another person. So don't point it up towards the sky, or towards a road, or towards another human being.

My friend has one of those and he used it a handful of times and then got bored of it. You can't really do anything fun with it, and there is a risk of hurting other people.

So go ahead and buy it if you want, but they are pointless and boring, and for the love of God if you put another person I danger with it then I hope you get a jail sentence, because that is not ok to do.

yeah get it

but also get some of the special safety glasses for lasers

they can save your eyes if your laser reflects off of something even remotely reflective by accident
