Stuck at around 50% gpu ussage only in game

Wecjpg

Hello!!

I just installed a new psu, from 550w to 650w.

My setup is: GPU: RTX 3070ti

                     CPU: Ryzen 7 5700x 8cores

                     RAM : 16 gb DDR4

                     PSU : 650w

While using benchmmark, no issues detected and my gpu is at full 99% usage. While playing, i tried multiple game and averaged between 50% and 60% uage continuously, with feps around 55 to 60 as well.

Temp was around 60C...

I'm kinda lost here, so please help me out 😆

Have a nice day/evening!

Depends on the games, the R7 5700 is kind of a bastard of a CPU. Its not a normal Ryzen and is really just a Ryzen 5700G with the iGPU disabled, which gives it less L3 cache.

Depending on what speed your RAM runs at, you're getting low GPU utilization in some games likely from a CPU+RAM limitation.

Do you have an fps cap on? What resolution?

So this problem occurred after you put in the new psu?

if so, was performance as expected before this?

Yes it's a 5700X.

No fps cap, 1080p on all games and yess, this started today after installing the pssu. Ichecked all the tabs and everything is plugged in properly...

Performance was better in every game i tested, but gpu usage never got up to 99%, like ever. (Spiderman, Elden ring...) Worst offender is cyberpunk where even before changing the psu, it was stuck at 70%. I got better frames then tho.

It feelss like a bottleneck, but benchmarks indicate there is none.

IDK what's going on...

It's probably a mild bottleneck since your gpu is using more power due to the higher wattage psu meaning it can perform better so the cpu is having to play catch up. Any stutters? All seems fine to me, a mild bottleneck is nothing to worry about (if it's stuttering though it's a different thing)

Yes it would be fine if the bottleneck didn't half the frames. like i barely get 55 on cyberpunk, with a rtx 3070ti, that feels insane to me...

Run Cinebench R23 from a fresh boot and report back the results. I would also then cross check some of the stats while running a game like cyberpunk to see what your CPU utilization, wattage, and boost clock is like.

At what settings?

That is quite low even for a 3070 ti

You might be maxing out the vram, though cyberpunk doesn't seem to exceed 7 gigs even with ultra settings (at 1080p)

Hi!

I won't resset the pc jusst yet, because i need it for work. But i did try Cinebench and did the Multi core test. I got 12772 pts. Ngl I have no idea what that means...

So, i went back to cyberpunk. 50c and 80 to 85% usage? is it a bottleneck? I was told this cpu is compatible with my current gpu...

No, that is surprisingly good, that is why I was asking. Still doesn't completely explain the lower than expected cinebench score.

So i tried fucking around in cyberpunk, and it jumps to 80 usage sometimes, but very briefly. SStrangely the Framerate seems to go down as usage goes up??

Hello!!

I ended up ressetting the computer yesterday...

I checked my bios version and it seems to be the latest version already. I did'nt ddu my graphics drivers because i didn't know what i was doing with the program and i didn't want to cause any damage.

After the reset, the GPU seems to be used a bit more, About 60 to 70 in some games, Still with sub par frames, to me.

Weirdest thing so far is the results of my userbenchmark test.

https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/67894653

The cinebench tesst i ran alsso seems way low...

GPU: 10365 pts

CPU: 759 pts ??

I don't understand what's going on
