The only feelings I get from ASMR videos are ones of infuriation... I have to avoid watching that type of video in case I commit egregious damage to my PC & its connected hardware.

I will NEVER watch an ASMR video, even if it IS tech related and has someone I'm familiar with in it.

I frequently edit any posts you may quote; please check for anything I 'may' have added.

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!

How to kill that feeling, listen to Linus whispering on loop 😂 Some people shouldn't whisper deliberately w/o training their voice, he's apparently one of them. James is close but not as bad.

Either that or actually listen/think about to what they say, all ASMR is doing is tricking your brain, no different than the question: Are you breathing? (it basically tricks you into manually breathing instead of letting your body do it naturally, and works almost every time and on everyone at some point, so don't abuse this new found power people hate it)

So if you can figure out how to block it, it then becomes a person whispering in your ears. Then again the easiest thing to do is simply not watch them lol, oh and not to have autoplay on for the next 5 years because YouTube may throw a video towards you in 1 day > 5 years time because of this video 🤣

I guess I learned that ASMR doesn't have the effect on me that it does on some people 😅

Just an quiet build to my ears, cool that you did it though! Not every video has to be for everyone.

Didn't enjoy this. Don't think there are many ASMR fans in the LTT audience.

This video isn't really meant for us, never was, if we wanted to watch a how to build they did one last year I think.

It's an attempt to get people who watch said videos to watch their channel. The advertiser potentially is hoping that video makers or future video makers of said content watch this and buys their mic.

When Linus announced this video a few weeks back I figured they got a mic company to be their sponsor, it's the only people who would make sense, equally it could have been the sponsor who suggested doing this style of video as that is their target market or a market they are trying to get into.

Numbers don't lie: (web search have been basically flatlined to around 50%)

Yeah ok, the problem is the balance between your existing audience and the audience you're trying to attract is completely lost.

With Linus there is no balance, just views and money, besides this is hardly the worst thing he's done this year, and likely his worst has yet to happen, the potential few he will lose may be tiny to those he may gain afterwards. So unless this video becomes a huge success with LTTs analytics, goes viral, the sponsor gets tons of orders or others see this with huge views I doubt we'll see another one anytime soon. If we do, Linus should never be in this kind of video again unless he gets voice lessons to control his pitches.

I kinda think people so far are missing the point or thinking too deeply.

It's a sponsored video for EPOS. The ASMR thing is about setting the stage for how well the mic performs (or not - YMMV). The case build is just a convenient vehicle (because of all the clicky, peel wrap, socket insertion, etc sounds you get when building a case - it's thematically related, i.e. sounds) or kinda like a MacGuffin, sure we've seen plenty, but it's not key to the plot.

Remember when The Verge made a gaming PC build guide?

This is the equivalent to that for ASMR.

I am actually a bit shocked to see how critical people are in this thread, because it being a completely different type of video than the norm was enjoyable to me. Everyone has opinions though.

My Current Setup:

I liked the video a lot.

The ASMR was done okay but could be better especially with the ac in the background in many shots.

But for me this type of video was pretty awesome because it was a lot more relaxed and not as aggressive/attention demanding.
For me that became especially noticeable as I watched both advertisement segments completely.
This way of delivering ads makes them a lot more palatable for me, but maybe the fact that it was not a sponsor segment i heard a million times before was part of that too.

While I get the feeling this type of content would not be appreciated by some, there more relaxed voices and pacing I would really like seeing again.

Would it be possible to make a "making of" this video with impressions of the team or maybe tell us about it in the wan-show?

Congratulations LMG, you actually did it. You madlads.

For the people wondering where this came from. April fools!

I can't post the original video because it either needs an age verification or it's just gone.

But you can find the goods if you know where to look 😉
