PSU's manufacturers

Renaldsq

I recommend having a look at independent PSU reviews for units in the price bracket you are looking at, across every brand

here's a good starting point for general comparison:

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

we dont recommend any one brand.

Berands have good psus, like the seasonic forcus line, and bad ones, like the SII12 line

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Never go for brands in general, go for models. This applies to PSU, this applies to anything tech. Always do your due dilligence and learn about individual model's weaknesses and strength. Psucultist tier list is a good place to start as @Fasauceome pointed out.

Always look at the individual units. Plenty of brands make crap stuff and good stuff just like any other brand anywhere. There is a psu tier list @Fasauceome posted and I recommend you always got at least with a b tier unit.

Major PSU manufacturers tend to have a whole range of quality levels depending on the buyer's needs.  For instance, for the short time we offered power supplies, we had SAMA do the manufacturing.  The options they gave us ranged from downright fantastic to "make sure your fire alarm has good batteries" (we settled on one of the higher end designs, and it was excellent).

Check professional reviews closely to get the best idea on design and quality.  And by professional reviews, we mean those willing to do in-depth analysis and testing.  I've seen many "professional" reviews where the reviewer essentially said it looks nice and powered his family's old office PC without dying, and was therefore good.

With Power Supplies, you cant equate brand with good or bad.... they all have great units, and not so great... to downright fire hazard units... Need specific unit to give you a proper opinion on what the unit is like.

The list spells out what the unit is designed for and what it would be recommended for.

Tier A • Recommended for high-end systems

Tier B • Recommended for midrange systems

Tier C • Recommended for cheap mid/low-end systems

Tier D • Recommended only for very cheap, iGPU systems

So really comes down to the hardware you will be powering with it as well.

*** Threads merged ***

Please keep questions about manufacturers like this in one thread. If you have specific build/component questions, those could be as own thread. However, please don't post multiple threads asking about each single PSU you happen to find.
