If I remember correctly, Linus did announce that there’s a gofundme up for Tyler on the WAN Show yesterday explaining what it was for.

We're trying to confirm if the one posted is the official one.

Seeing as it was Jan 1st and then a weekend makes it a slow task.

The Community Standard is clear, we don't allow gofundme links unless they are veted

Oh I wasn’t advocating one way or the other. I was just letting him know that Linus did in fact announce that there was one, that’s all.

No worries, the action was taken several hours before the WAN show took place.

We will look into the fundraiser mentioned and verify the correct one.

Questionable oversight or intentional commemorance?

From my 10 years of experience with LTT/LMG both is equally possible. If it's intentional, I wouldn't endorse it personally, but it's obviously the company's decision how to handle it and to leave it untouched to commemorate. If it's unintentional, I'm simply not surprised.

I'm slightly confused, what did it say before?

I think the poster is asking why they haven't removed him from the staff list yet? But I could be wrong.

Has somebody said how he died?

He passed away in his sleep on Christmas Eve. While it's natural to be curious about the unexpected death of a relatively young person, it's up to the family whether or not to discuss the medical cause, and since thus far they have not done so we should respect their decision.

That's all I wanted to know. And that's even sader :(

You're absolutely correct - thanks for noticing what I thought to be obvious based on what I wrote. A "change" also includes the possibility of a considerate note or monochrome image though, as it is common practice.

That's up to the family to decide if they want to tell. I understand the curiosity behind it, but it's better not to push and prod. If they want to announce it, I'm sure we'll know somehow.

Thoughts and prayers to the family, friends and colleagues, this must be hard. :(

I doubt this is the cause since they say he died suddenly.

Supposedly painting can cause cancer in the lungs as an ancestor of mine died of it. I don't think cancer would kill someone that suddenly, but if it did, I'd like to know an I play warhammer and paint too. A lot of people paint in their houses. But the paints are made in England so they could be non-toxic.

Naturally, I don't mean to be disrespectful in the theory.

This is wildly irresponsible speculation which you yourself acknowledge is vanishingly unlikely to be the cause. Why even post it?

Uh. No. I mean, I get why you'd draw that quick conclusion, but it's simply not going to happen when you're painting miniatures. Those studies were done on people who paint a lot, every day, as a career. The studies were also done on people in the 60's and 70's (if you're referring to the Swedish study), when lead based paint was more prevalent. People that paint cars etc are at higher risk, but that's because they're painting in booths with aerosol paints and PPE wasn't always worn. Painting miniatures you're also not subjected to large amounts of industrial solvents, dust, etc.

It's sort of akin to digging a hole in your backyard, and using death rates of miners to say how dangerous it is.

Edit:

I'm just curious if the painting had anything to do with it. Idk why the 2 above comments feel so grumpy about my curiosity and hope to make sure other painters aren't dying suddenly.

What kind of painter though? It makes a massive difference. Plus, whats in paint has changed over the years, making it less toxic.
