Actually it is to reflect sunlight to prevent overheating the ISS. Black absorbs sunlight, the infrared Red band to be more accurate.

most of the time they get products manufactured before the actual release, so they might manufacture it slightly differently.

Also, they could just give them better product so they can market it better. (deceiving you)
