How are people struggling to see what OP is asking?

 

LTT is a youtube dependent company. It wouldn't exist without youtube, arguably it's grown its revenue streams outside of just youtube ad revenue, however lose youtube and it face some serious problems.

 

The largest youtubers, say T-Series, are not dependent on youtube, they are a record company. Pewdiepie is a pretty minimal streamer (maybe a few 'employees' that edit his videos).  

 

Cocomelon is pretty big, and arguably a youtube dependent company. But they're reported only 20 employees.

 

God knows how many retards in 5-Minute Crafts are employed there.

 

LTT could very well be one of the biggest youtube dependent companies out there.

To OP, would you consider Floatplane, with Luke and a handful of other FP employees, part of LTT in this sense? Not that it makes much of a difference in terms of numbers, but I'm interested in how you would classify them in the context of your question.

So, you don't consider studio to be youtuber even if it has started small? For example some of the older channels of variety side are pretty big in terms of production crew. Like FBE (they have like whole building) and Smosh. As you could easily related them to LMG which also is studio currently.

Ultimately this question is kinda hard to answer properly. For two key reasons. One being how to define youtuber (another good example is High 5 Studios which also started small and is now branched over several channels). The other is that number of employees isn't public information. Some include credits in their descriptions (a FBE channel video has 17 names there just from production side) or rolling credits like LMG. Others serve BTS to HC fans where you can spot and count them. And some are like any other company which only lists key people, like their CEO and hosts/writers/producers/directors.

To be more specific, Elon Musk or some major celeb/business person like Mark Cuban who owns businesses that have many employees whose income has nothing to do with their YouTube channel is not relevant to this question.

I think a better phrase for the question is what YouTube channel that started with a couple of people has grown into the biggest company/what company where the main output of content is on YouTube has the most employees?, With this LMG is one of the biggest however did perfect is more likely going to be bigger however as no company/channel has released official stats

No, I do not consider a studio or a company to be a "YouTuber". For the purpose of this question, a YouTuber is strictly an individual. A YouTuber is a person, and is not synonymous with a YouTube channel. That said....

 

My question is what YouTuber currently owns and operates his or her channel(s), and has created a company, studio, organization... etc. Dedicated to his or her channel(s), employs the most amount of people. Meaning an actual employee for the studio which is reliant on the YouTubers channel(s). Not freelance writers, no contractors... etc. Actual employees of the YouTuber.

No, I would not. For example,  if Linus opens a restaurant and places the business under a total separate company than LMG (Linus Media Group), the employees of that that business would not count as employees for the YouTuber for the purpose of my question. I am searching for solely dedicated employees to a individual YouTubers channel(s).

But LMG is studio. Linus is the owner and CEO. He is not individual who employs staff. Not in a same sense as MKBHD or Jayz2Cents for example who are individuals.

 

If I were to make similar distinction,
I would say you are asking about those who appear only or mostly alone on their channel and have some support staff. If they have secondary channels, same rule must apply. Otherwise it's studio where the original creator(s) may or may not be directly involved in the content of any channels. But as long as the main platform still is YT.

 

LMG has 6 channels, and Linus is main host on only LTT. Smosh has 7 channels, and owner/creator Ian Hecox is part of the main cast. Just as example. So LMG/Linus isn't the biggest youtubers crew. He might be biggest among the tech-youtubers.

I asked what YouTuber, which I distinguished as an individual not a company or a YouTube channel, has the largest company (largest I defined as the most employees), studio... No, you are making this difficult. FBE and Smosh are examples of youtubers who have bigger staff than LMG. For example. Just production staff for single video is matching LMGs whole staff. And that does not include office staff which makes 3rd of LMGs staff.

 

Those are from my viewed. There are others, like Tested.com where initial staff is some 17 strong and doesn't include their office staff which are from another company.

Smosh from what I can tell would fit the bill for my question, and is useful for the purpose of my question. I am not making this difficult, I am writing a paper for school about entrepreneurship, this question is relevant to the purpose of my paper. This has nothing to do with LMG, I merely asked the question to find other YouTubers who have grown large successful businesses off of YouTube. Proving that new social media platforms like YouTube create jobs and employment opportunities not just for the individual who owns the channel(s) (the YouTuber), but that some YouTubers create small companies dedicated to their channels, such as Linus who created LMG for his YouTube channel(s). 

 

In conclusion, no, I am not making this difficult, it is for a very specific purpose.

First you'll have to define what you mean by YouTuber then we can start from there.

There's so many types of YouTuber that it's hard to draw a line, so you likely won't get an answer

By your definition then, the moment an individual hires one person to help them out with their YouTube channel, that person cannot be considered a "YouTuber". And thus we a problem with your original question as "YouTuber" cannot have more than 1 person on the payroll, i.e. themselves. Which means they can never have more employees than LMG.

This has already been addressed countless times throughout the thread... I am specifically asking what YouTuber has created a company for which has the most employees dedicated to his or her channel(s). This is the final time I am answering this. Linus would be the YouTuber, LMG would be the company he as created for which is dedicated and based on YouTube. The number of employees working for LMG would be counted.

This is informative to me. As I have only known Smosh after discovering Youtube. Which kinda makes FBE also hard to say. Their format was there before YT, but they couldn't sell it to anyone with distribution resources. So in that way they are made big because of youtube.

The only reason I did not state the purpose of the question was because I feared people doing exactly what ended up happening here. Arguing with the reasoning or premise of the question.
