Compared to other stuff they do, it’s not that bad. My laptop also came with 2666mhz ram.

Would it be a few percentage points increase in performance if it use 2933? Yes. Does that mean companies will use it and make less money? No.

I think it's much worse Apple is charging $1,799 for a an i5 6 core and only 8GB of ram.

And you only get a 256GB SSD, so you'll have to have an external HDD on the desk if you actually want to have a decent amount of storage.

You can upgrade them yourself. The 27" model at least.
