Keep or throw away boxes?

So my room has just started to become piled up with empty component boxes after a few upgrades. I'm considering throwing away my boxes with the exception of my GPU and CPU box. What do you think?

you can sometimes sell them for very little, or you could use them for reselling them.

I keep boxes for expensive things in case of an RMA, and for things I intend to resell on their own after a while, otherwise no.

would personally keep them, but if you need more storage then its up to you.

I keep them, because you never know when you need Cables, or manuals, etc. 

 

Id suggest keeping the PSU box if the cables don’t come in a bag like some companies do, and go through the boxes before the print them out to make sure you have everything.

I keep every box for items valuing over $100 and internal components exceeding $50. I flip components quite often, though it really depends on what you plan to resell.

I usually only keep 3 boxes for transportation . My GPU box, case box, monitor box.

I keep them as long as their repair/return period (which is 30 days where I live) then it goes straight into trash. I just save the warranty related stuff.

I'd keep it just for the heck of it but quiet honestly, If you don't sell your components, you can just get a baggy, write on it what it is and but the cables etc. in there.

For new bits - a month... after that, 'how bad do you need the space they take up?'.

 

Personally?  Until I replace the item.

It's not a bad idea to hang onto them just in case you have to ship for an RMA, or if you plan on reselling later. I'd say I'm about 50/50 in terms of how many I keep vs. how many I toss.

I keep my boxes and to save space and as mentioned by Linus in one of his YouTube videos a long time ago while building a PC, he puts all the component boxes inside the case box to save space.

My P280 case box has the 'board/CPU/RAM/cooler combo from the previous build state in it, along with their boxes (I think?)...

I keep the mobo box to consolidate all the cables, manuals, extra screws, etc in, and the GPU box in case I end up reselling. CPU box is probably less important, though, I've kept mine to keep the stock cooler in because I'm not using it. Anything else can go.

Linus also has an actual office with component storage areas. Keeping the case box will be difficult for people unless they've got plenty of storage space, like an attic.

I keep all my boxes except for the really big ones or really shit ones. It's nice to have if you ever need to RMA or something, or if you want to sell the parts in the future.

 

If you need space, take out any packing material from inside and fold them flat.

I keep my boxes for the duration of the warranty and/or if I plan to resell the item later on. Big items like monitor or case, though... Those I keep the box for a month, until the store's return window is over. 

If you need spaces, you can always "break down" the boxes to flatten them out. (in a way that doesn't break them)

 

Though that mostly apply to "expensive" items. The more expensive it was, the more I'm likely going to keep it longer.

This video that I remember goes back many years ago, at least 2015 or older.

I put my boxes inside of other boxes, so the case box has all the other boxes. Takes up less space.

But then end up throwing them out in around 5 years or so. Weird, isn't it?

I do take the protective film off things though.

The only boxes we ever kept was out Mobo boxes and we'd put any spare cables, driver discs, etc. in that. If you aren't constantly swapping stuff out it's just a bunch of extra boxes taking up space. My buddy's office has a good portion dedicated to just empty iPhone and camera lens boxes.

I have a shelf in my room that has like 5 iphone 6s boxes (don't know what to do with them)

keep the mobo box because good for rma and keep extra parts in.
