best intel and amd cpu for editing/gaming?

whats the best cpu for editing and gaming within a reasonable price? (300 - 500 dollars)

im talking after effects/premiere projects in 1080p 60fps and some heavy editing and effects.

games - csgo, gta v, valorant

i thought of this combo:

i7 9700k

gigabyte z390 aorus pro

corsair vengeance lpx 16gb (2x8gb) 3600mhz cl18 kit

i thought maybe getting the i5 9600k or maybe wait for the i7 10700k

cpu will be paired with either a 1660 super or a 2060 super.

any suggestions will be great

$500 puts you over the price of a 3900X, which would be perfect for editing and gaming. Intel CPUs are kind of bad buys at this point.

If you're doing heavy editing I'd recommend the 3900x. If you're not that serious about it, a 3700x, or a cheap 3800x is perfect.

aren't the 1660s and 2060s kind of weak for this cpu?

Yes, but editing is more cpu intensive. I believe premiere has gpu acceleration disabled by default, or maybe that's Vegas.

Doesn't really matter does it? You'll have a far better cpu then and it won't hold back your gpu just like the i7 would. However a 9700k is just far worse for editing. Another thing is that 6 core non ht cpu's are already having issues with games so the 8core non ht 9700k will probably be next after the new consoles come around.

I know that the cpu is more important in editing but im also going to game alot and i want this pc to be future proof in both cpu and gpu terms

an RTX 2060 or GTX 1660 is more than enough for good frames. I have an RTX 2060 and I run all my triple a games on ultra ultra with a minimum of 60 FPS on 1080p (I have a terrible processor that doesnt like my ram speed)

Then you should go with a 2070, or if you can find a last gen 1080ti (if no rtx isn't a deal breaker)

Yes, people do love amd because its more bang for your buck. I'm running an r5 1600x to this day, and it outperforms some new Intel i5 based systems. So yes, he should get the r9 3900x over the i7. Its a higher end chip that will last longer and its putting him on a virtually future proof platform.

Well, sure, but if editing is a main use case for this PC, you'll be glad to have the extra CPU horsepower. If this were a pure gaming machine, I'd say Ryzen 7 all the way, but if editing is a priority, you're gonna be glad you have that 3900X doing its thing, and it's not going to hurt your GPU in the least to have a beefcake CPU on it.

The i7-9700K isn't even something you should be considering, IMO. The Intel platform is, dollar for dollar, much worse than what AMD has to offer right now. That will change in the future--remember back in 2015 when Intel was releasing 3-5% "groundbreaking" improvements each year as the FX series sat there are melted VRMs?

If it's $500 for the CPU and motherboard, get a 3700X and a good X570 like a TUF X570-PLUS, PRIME X570-P, or wait for MSI's X570 Tomahawk.

If it's $500 just for the CPU, get a 3900X and either of the boards above.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Then go for the 3700X, it'll still be faster than the 9700K for video editing. Also by going with X570 you'll be able to upgrade later on down the line anyway to a 3900X/3950X when those drop in price or to Ryzen 4000.

What country is that? If you got any friends/family in the US or maybe Europe, you could send them the money, they buy the stuff in their region, and pack and ship it very carefully back to you.

500?  With editing? 3900x hands down.

If gaming is the main consideration (above anything else) a 9900k does fantastic for that (as will 10900k) for 500 and can edit just fine.  But the 3900x is honestly VERY close to 9900k in gaming (if you dont care that much) and blows it out of the water in editing/productivity.

El Zoido:  9900k + RTX 4090 / 32 gb 3600mHz RAM / z390 Aorus Master

The Box:  3900x + RTX 3080 /  32 gb 3000mHz RAM / B550 MSI mortar

Both gaming and editing are the main consideration. The 3900x is 570 dollars and the 9900k is 676 dollars.

I do plan on making this future proof for at least 4 or 5 years and if ill get a 3900x ill need to get a stronger gpu cause the 1660 super will choke the ryzen and im aint bout loosing those fps ya know.

Idk maybe ill get a 3800x or maybe ill wait for the new 10 series/4000 series to arrive in my country and drop the prices of the 3900x/3800x and the 9th gen i9 and i7

A 1660S will work fine with a 3900X. You'll run into problems when your CPU is too weak for the GPU (stuttering, horrible frametimes, etc).

The 3800X is basically a (maybe) binned 3700X, no point in spending extra for that, especially when you're on a budget.

I just said you can run into issues when the CPU is too weak for the GPU, but if it's the other way around then it's fine really (for gaming).
