[Unofficial LTT] NZXT H440 Owners Club

OK, thank you. I am also looking at the Coolermaster Nepton 240M. The Silencio fans on that have an SP of 4.8 mm H2O, which is very impressive. Quiet also. Not to mention being significantly cheaper than the X61.2ONo

just take the "specs" with a grain of salt as there is no "standard" in comparing

different specs between different manufacturers. it is amazing that some

mannies "rate" their products and they tend to not live up to those "specs" and

they all embellish the specs.

LTT tested and only found 4° difference between the 240m and the x61. and a

fan change only netted another 2° drop.

6:48 for a chart

Yeah I did see that review. Thing is, the Nepton can be bought for £35-40 less than the X61 here in the UK (that's $55-65 in the US of A), so it's a struggle to perhaps see justification for the extra cost.

@airdeano

Well, are there any fans that can get full potential out of the rad and still be quiet (that aren't expensive)? I'm still using the stock Seidon 240m fans (Blade Masters I believe), and much about 50 and their no longer quiet, however there is a good five+ degree difference between 50% and 100%.

And because of that, I wouldn't get the x61. The performance is only marginally better yet it's quite a bit more.

quiet, well-performers and not a wallet buster. at 12v these are quiet and perform

better than NF-F12, plus all black. also PWM for inexpensive.

I am going to build my 2nd h440 rig and am wondering if it's possible to run an X61 at the top (CPU) and an X41 at the rear (GPU).  Is there enough clearance below the X61 for the X41 to fit? I would like to use the front to intake cool air vs pulling in hot air by putting the X61 at the front.

Hey all,

Sorry if this has been asked before but I'd really appreciate some advice for this case and the Kraken X61 AIO cooler.

I've read that there are many possible configurations that the rad and the fans can be installed, and I was hoping someone here would be able to advise which way is best.

Currently I'm planning to mount it to the top of the case, with the fans below the rad pulling air upwards as exhaust.

Is this the best way?

My build is currently mostly red and black, so I was thinking I would get some Corsair AF140s to use as the fans instead to better match my build. Is that something that would be good? If so, would I benefit from using 4 fans with the AF140s below the rad and the bundled NZXT fans on top?

Which configuration would be best?

==========   (Rad)

^^^^^^^^^^^    (NZXT or Corsair Fans with upward airflow)

OR

^^^^^^^^^^^    (NZXT Fans with upward airflow)

==========   (Rad)

^^^^^^^^^^^    (Corsair AF140 Fans with upward airflow)

OR something completely different such as using the fans as intake, pushing air into the case rather than out?

Apologies again if this has been asked, any advice or links to information would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

EDIT: If it helps I've currently got 3 NZXT fans as intake in the front, and a Corsair AF120 in the rear as an exhaust

This Video answers all.

But going with what the video says

Best option for performance: SP Fan push air through the rad and AF Fan pulling through the rad

The there is no difference in performance between having a fan in push only or pull only but having it in pull only instead of push will reduce the dust as seen in this video

So i would only use push/pull on a 120/140mm radiator and pull only on a 240mm+ radiator

Thanks heaps, both videos were really useful!

I was going to do push/pull so I can get AF140s in there and make it look nice (having white fan blades didn't sit right with me with my black/red build), but after seeing the dust in the second video I think I'm happy with just pull, as there would be less dust to clean up, and I'd never really see my fans anyway.

Thanks again :)

well the top or front take 3x120 or 2x140..

I would choose 3x120 nut if you only going with 2 fans then 140 is obviously better

Do you want to remove just the plastic piece with the logo or the whole shroud?

Because you can remove the plastic piece with 3 screws in the back, but the shroud would be pretty hard to remove

I've been reluctant to post my H440 as I'm always changing it, but here it is... I kind of went all out with cooling.. The airflow (or lack there of) was always annoying me, although I do love the case after all this.

Notable:

  • Custom waterloop
  • 10 Fans (11 including the PSU, 8 Noctua industrialsPPC)
  • 3 Radiators (360mm, 280mm, 240mm)
  • 2x 240mm holes cut in the panels.
  • 2 water temp sensors
  • 2 mode lighting (White mode and UV mode) controlled by two switches at the back

You'll have to put it up front if you want push-pull; but push-pull is barely better than just push or just pull.

I will be joining your ranks in about a week, getting ready to order my stuff next week. I'm very excited for this case, it was a toss up between the H440 and the S340. It was close but the H440 was just too good looking and feature stack to pass on.

Planned build for any one that cares..

H440 White/black

4690K or 4790k (still up in the air on this)

Maximus VII Hero

Asus gtx 980 Stirx

Kraken x61

Corsair Vengeance Pro 16gb(2x8) 1866

Intel 730 ssd 240gb x2 run in raid 0 (mainly for aesthetics)

evga supernova 750watt G2

SP/AF Corsair fans

red or white Bitfenix cable extensions (still in the air on color)

White LED strip (probably NZXT)

Now to my question. I know there's a gap in the front/top when you use 2x 140mm fans rather than 3x 120mm fans. Has anyone tried to stick maybe 2 smaller fans (60-80mm) in that spot? I know its kind of an odd question. I'm planning on push/pull intake though an x61 in the front, 3x 120mm top exhaust, and a 140mm exhaust on the rear. I just want to put some fan action below the x61 to draw some cool air from somewhere beside the rad. I don't really want to move to a 240 aio but I might have to. Also do you recommend high static pressure fans for top exhaust or high air flow, I just wasn't sure because there's not a lot of room for the air to move up there and I didn't know which should be better.

Any other advice would be helpful too. I look forward to posting some pics when I'm done.

Case: NZXT H440 CPU: i7 4790k CPU Cooler: Kraken x61 Motherboard: Sabertooth Mark 1 RAM: Dominator Platinum 16gb Storage: 120gb EVO 840/WD 750gb GPU: 2x Nvidia GTX 970 PSU: EVGA 850 G2
