[Unofficial LTT] NZXT H440 Owners Club

I just finished an X99 build in this case with a Corsair H105 AIO in push/pull config. Everything fit really well and with a total of 8 fans in the case I was able to overclock the 5820k up to 4.5GHz stable at ~72C. Overclocked the MSI GTX 970 to 1.5GHz GPU and 8GHz memory. This really is an excellent case in aesthetics and functionality (IMHO).

Here are some pics. (Yes, I took these of my actual system. Sorry, some people keep asking me on other forums!)

Very nice and clean build, looks great.

But the MSi how you get it to 8GHz? mine is core i got to 1500mhz and memory clock to 4000Mhz (+500 to memory to get this) you would need +4500

The memory on the 970 is at 7000mhz stock keep in mind its GDDR5 (Double data -- so, 7000 = 3500*2)

For the same reason CPU-Z will list 1600mhz ram at 800mhz; it's just the way double-data-rate memory works.

As stated in the excellent responses above with DDR it shows you the base and you have to double it to get the effective rate.

Looks nice and clean! Not a huge fan of the Red led thing but it's just a personal preference, everything else looks great. How are the sp140s?

Thanks. The red looks over the top in photos, but actually has a nice soft glow in person.

The SP140s are great. I mapped them using the software to provide much lower noise during standard operations and kick up a bit under load. Even running OC'd the machine stays well within good temp range and isn't too loud. I like the larger fans since they can move lots of air while keeping RPMs much lower.

Anyone try to put 2x 120mm fans and 1x 140mm fan in the front? I could have swore I saw picks of it but I can't find them. Probably have to drill some holes but it looks like they could all fit.

not worth it for that extra 20mm. the 3x120 is more than enough yes 3x140 would be better but its not worth it to me to try mod the case to make 2x120 and 1x140 fit

Thought I would post my build - Here it is in Imgur link with better quality images, for easy reading of the build I did, and I'll attach some images below.

http://imgur.com/a/MgpsA. Only issue I have is I cannot seem to get the flat screws to fit my SSD / tray, odd.

I see (Rampage V extreme, E-ATX) is compatible with this case.

I assume no modification is needed to accomodate the RAMPAGE E-ATX.

In addition to above, will the H100i cooler fit without modification?

thanks

i dont know about e-atx but the h100i fit no problem at least with my mainboard but i dont think there should be a problem with any mainboards to say for sure how much clearance there is id have to look at it again after work installing was pretty easy i dont remember it being cramned

There would't be any issues as there is a bit over 50mm of clearance at the top of the case for fans+radiators before you even get to the motherboard.

thanks cluelessgenius;

Ok, i mis-read it;

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/222364-upgrade-log-project-red-rampage-a-x99-powered-build/

900d was used.

turns out my original plan using 450d failed; 2 new shipments with defects; i like corsair products in general but no high remarks on the 450d cases' quality control.

assuming same QA on 900d, I'll stay away from 900d.

Given i am a novice, i won't try the h440 (avoid collison with PSU etc.) for my combo of h100i/rampage-v-extreme.

Please kindly provide any recommendation for a case to house my h100i/rampage-v-extreme; my budget is under 300$USD.

I found "Nanoxia Deep Silence 5 Big Tower Case" which should do the job

thanks

An E-ATX board wouldn't affect the PSU -- an XL-ATX board would. An E-ATX board will have issues with the robber grommets on the right side.

Is there anyway to improve the Airflow from the Front and the top of the Case?

My 360(Top of the case) and 240(front) are just enough to keep my fx 8320@5GHzWatermelons under 70°C and the water almost reaches 40°C

Without the top and front the cpu only gets like 46°C hot und the water like 29°C.

I´m using the Corsair Sp120 quit edition at 12V.

Since i want to add a GPU later i think i have to improve the temps.

Any suggestions?

Greetings Mubbel

Both are supported, yes. E-ATX not officially, though. You have to remove the grommets if i recall correctly, but it fits. I don't really recommend it.

The H440 does NOT support E-ATX boards.

Not officially, but they fit. There's a Rampage IV extreme in an H440 somewhere in this thread

Edit: you actually found it lol

And you install via USB...Who the heck uses disks for that stuff anymore?

Theres about a 10ºc difference between all the panels on and all the panels off.

Search "creating a windows bootable usb" (it's very easy to do).

NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER install drivers off a cd. Go to the manufacturer's website and download current drivers.
