Project Whiteout v2.0 (H440 Watercooled, 3xRadiators, 10 fans)

Fragsa1

So this is my 2nd iteration in this same case, had some cooling issues in v1.0 so I was just like... Fuck it.. Time to go big or go home (cooling wise). Imgur album: http://imgur.com/a/Huin5

First off the components.
Case: NZXT H440
GPU: 2x Ref GTX780 (@1.29ghz)
MB: ASUS Z97 Maximus VII Ranger
CPU: I5 4690k (@4.7ghz)
RAM: 8GB 1866mhz Kingston HyperX Fury
SDD: 2x Samsung 840 EVO 250GB (Raid 0)
PSU: Corsair RM850
(yes no mechanical drives, no room!)

Watercooling Specs:

  • 2x EK Full Cover VGA Block EK-FC780 GTX Ti Acetal
  • EK Supremacy EVO CPU Waterblock Clean CSQ Nickel
  • Alphacool ST30 240mm
  • Alphacool ST30 360mm
  • Alphacool ST30 280mm
  • EK D5 Vario 12 DC Pump
  • XSPC Photon 170 Tube Reservoir
  • PrimoChill PrimoFlex Advanced LRT Tubing Clear 1/2ID
  • EK Ekoolant Pastel Concentrate White
  • XSPC LCD Temperature Display + 2x G1/4in Plug Sensor

Fittings:

  • 14x XSPC Black Chrome 1/2" Compression Fittings
  • 6x XSPC G1/4 Black Chrome 90° fitting
  • 5x XSPC G1/4 Black Chrome 45° fitting
  • XSPC T Fitting Black Chrome

Fans:

  • 5x Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC 2000RPM
  • 3x Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC 3000RPM
  • 2x Stock NZXT 120mm

So I decided after some cooling issues with just a 360mm rad (top) and a 240mm rad, that I would cut a 240mm hole in the bottom of the case for an addition rad. After I did that I moved my existing 240mm to the bottom of the case and purchased an additional 280mm rad and placed it at the front of the case. After doing this I switched all radiator fans to intake (for cool air). This resulted in hot air just building up inside the case, so I cut ANOTHER 240mm hole in the right side panel (I just went crazy at this point). I then placed 2 fans to act as exhaust in this hole. I now have 10 fans (11 if you count the PSU) in my mid tower (supposedly) "quite" case. I have to give it to the H440 though, it is still rather silent. Needless to say at idle (not gaming) those Noctuas stay at ~20%, at 100% its about to take off! I'm looking at getting a Aquacomputer Aquaero 5 LT to have all of the fans controlled by the water temps, currently they are only based on CPU temps.

Its a white and black theme, I have a white and UV led strip in the case. Both are controlled by 2 different custom switches at the rear of the case. You'll notice that I had to move the rear 140mm fan up to accommodate the reservoir, this meant cutting a hole in the top rear of the case (more holes!).

The panel on the front of the drive bay is my pump mount, its a piece of the side panel I cutout. I'm using the foam as a vibration (noise) dampener, there is another pad between the pump and the drive bay cover as well. I found this worked really well to cut out vibrations traveling through the screws.

Let me know what you think. Here is the full Imgur album (lots more photos than below): http://imgur.com/a/Huin5

Wow damn, that's a nice build. Good work, it must have taken a serious amount of time to have modded those rads in 0.o

Heres V1.0 for those who care: http://imgur.com/a/khRLz

Things I learnt:

  • Long runs look terrible
  • Don't use a phone camera.. (v2.0 is taken with a 5D Mark2)

Thanks man. I always have people telling me it looks like milk! I didn't know white coolant was that uncommon. I do also store my spare coolant in a 2ltr milk bottle style container as a joke ;) .

Black&white, watercooled rig w/ Noctua fans. Awesome :3

And failing to act, for fear of the risk, is no different than a living death. No matter what world you’re in.

I really like the colour of your coolant, it looks like milk :) If I ever make a custom loop, it will be that colour most likely

I am WCing a h440, and was wondering if you have barbs down on the front 280 or barbs up?
