I'd trust them. Every company collects data on you, whether it's Huawei, Google, etc. At the end of the day, it comes down to how the company uses that data against you. And unless you're a Chinese citizen doing something illegal, there's nothing wrong w/ Huawei devices.

Every company collect data on you. so it doesnt matter. However, since huawei phone now dont have google services anymore, I would not use them. I prefer to have google maps/youtube/gmail without any hassle (heard they can be sideloaded).

All the spy things ppl are talking about is not really their phone. it's their communication hardware, such as the equipment in base stations and servers.

Huawei watch on the other hand is okay. As long as they have good functionality and battery life i would consider them. I will need a smart watch that can at least last 6-7 days. I dont want to charge it every night.

I don't trust them. But I also do not trust the others, every tech company out there has already proven on more than one occasion that they are not trustworthy.

There is no replacement for RGB except more RGB ?

I prefer devices that can be "hacked" so I can take full control/ownership over it using third party firmwares. So if a Huawei device lets me do that, I wouldn't mind it.

But as a whole, I don't trust any mobile devices, at all. I don't even have a banking app on my phone(samsung) exactly because I don't trust this device to not be infected in some way from the playstore, galaxy store or the web browser. It simply doesn't have the security feature I would want (like a firewall that lets me decide whether something can access the internet or not).

I'm really happy with my Huawei P20, most likely getting a Samsung S20 sometime soon, but I'm really happy with it. 99% of companies collect data for all sorts of reasons.

Odd, all the Google stuff works perfectly fine on my P20.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

at this point I don't think it makes a difference if you get huawei or not, they're all as bad as each other and if it's taken until now to decide to take action against them, then it's too late.

I have a huawei watch 2 sport anyway, got it last year to replace my old and broken pebble 2 (may it rest in peace, the best smartwatch brand ever) and it's been good enough for me. Some issues, but they're more with wear OS than huawei, as 2 days battery life is fine.

I wouldn't get a huawei phone though, and that's because I personally just don't think their SoCs are as good as what samsung and qualcomm can consistently put out, and I'm not sure how good their software support is, it's why I moved to pixel phones and plan on using them for the foreseeable future.

I do not trust Huawei. There is far too much evidence and arrests to dispute that they are up to some shady stuff. They are making great phones, but I'm not willing to potentially open myself to spying by an unknown entity.

I've actually seen some posts about a few guys who did a bit of investigation. Some Huawei phones have a callback function that sends telemetry back to China, more specifically to their department of communications or something that's based in Beijing. This was on reddit so I don't know if it's valid or not.

Thats because it's older model. i think start from either mate30 or p40 they lose google service. All the previous models will still have it.

I dont trust any phone companies let alone ones that have direct ties and legal obligation to give information to their countries government. You can be mad at Apple but they really didnt want people to hack into their phones (cant remember the reasoning some guy broke the law I assume). But I use Samsung note 10+ as I use Dex as my office desktop and remote into network desktops lol. I filled out 99% of my data for phones and websites incorrectly on purpose.

I answered "no" to both questions not because I'm concerned about privacy issues, which I honestly don't think any big tech company is better at than any other, but simply because of the lack of functionalities like the lack of Play Store. I just wouldn't want to invest my money for less features.

I have no definite proof one way or another wrt. Huawei spying, but I wouldn't be surprised. That said, I have other reasons for not buying Huawei: my Huawei - tablet only ever got one firmware-update, after which abandoned it. Later I found out that the tablet did, actually, receive a couple of updates but none of those were offered to residents in my country; it was just an arbitrary decision based on the fact that Finland is such a small and irrelevant country that they just can't be bothered with supporting their customers here anymore. Yes, I did ask their customer-support and yes, they confirmed it and yes, the firmware-updates offered in other countries work perfectly well with the tablets sold here and do, indeed, include all Finnish translations and all, so there was no technical reason for any of it.

So yeah, fuck the company. I like the hardware, but I'm not going to support the company ever again.

On the trust question specifically, I have no more problem with Huawei than I do with for example Apple or Google. Reasons are obvious but I wont state as it'll drag the thread quickly down the politics sinkhole.

I currently own a Huawei tablet, and would have bought another if it wasn't for recent political events. I had seriously considered their phones in the past. I didn't buy not because I deemed then not worthy, but I didn't buy as I don't want to pay for a flagship level device from anyone.

I want an American company to spy on me and collect my data without my consent, as a true patriot would.

Android lets google spy on you enough already why would you let the Chinese government do the same? I don't want them using my phone as part of something like a botnet etc.
