I have a bad time with cars

Synchro_

Hello friends!

I swear I'm always having car issues of some sort

Getting straight to it. I have a 2004 Honda Civic EX model (auto) basically if i were to accelerate too hard and get to 4k rpms, the car starts like jumping and lurching or something and absolutely will not go any higher. I mean it's not that much a problem, I don't really have a need to get up there, but it's power I can't use and I feel like i'm a granny driving slow. lol

To be fair, the car is 16 years old.

It's not surprising you're always have issues of some sort.

An ECU (I think it was the gearbox ECU) in my 2008 Vauxhall Astra died in 2015, and an ECU (I think it was also the gearbox ECU) died in my 2012 Peugeot 308 in 2019. Both were financial write-offs.

Since I can only legally drive automatic cars, last year, I went for a PCP (similar to a lease) on a brand new 2019 car because I want to stop worrying my car will break down at any time and cost me a fortune.

Sounds like its either knocking or fuel/ignition cutting. Get it checked, not much you can do without ODB2 reader or proper tools.

I had our local AutoZone run the ODB2 on it because I was having some other issues too. I believe the only things that came up were the o2 sensor and the oil position switch. I'll have to double check the printout

I see, i see

I may have to look into that, I haven't really had too many issues with this car specifically, the whole me having car issues all the time was a general statement lol. I think any form of vehicle just hates me

I only started driving in 2016 and two of my cars (which were low-to-average mileage and certainly not bangers) had catastrophic issues :/

Modern cars are buggers.

Got fed up in the end and now I pay £250 per month, for three years but I get a new car with some nice extras like heated seats / steering wheel etc. and not having to worry about what I'll do if it breaks down. When the three years is up, they take it back and do what they want with it and I drive away with another new one.

That probably explains the issues your having then. You have an old car, you have to expect some repairs. Parts to eventually wear out. Thats why i ended up leasing a new car, only had 17 miles on it when I rolled it off the lot. Yeah I have a car payment and limited to 12K miles per year, but I dont have to worry about major repairs. Also with as little as I drive, I only managed to put 9K miles on it in 1.5 years.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Oil position switch could be something to do with your VTEC system, which could have its switchover around 4000rpm, though it might be a bit higher. You’re probably in some type of limp mode where the power is cut to save the motor if there’s a problem. Also, if your O2 sensor code is for the upstream/primary, your ECU might be getting bad air/fuel readings. Specific codes would be important for further diagnostics.

My Current Setup:

AMD Ryzen 5900X

Kingston HyperX Fury 3200mhz 2x16GB

MSI B450 Gaming Plus

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

EVGA RTX 3060 Ti XC

Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB

WD 5400RPM 2TB

EVGA G3 750W

Corsair Carbide 300R

Arctic Fans 140mm x4 120mm x 1

Sounds like standard sensors that go out around that age for a vehicle.

But yeah, definitely sounds like the o2 sensor.  My former 05 Frontier had the same behavior from a bad one it had.

Highly advise, find a forum dedicated for that brand or vehicle type.  There tends to be very useful info on common items that break on the vehicles in such forums.  Along what are know to be common issues the vehicle seen down the road.
