They underestimated the power of backcovers and cable management cut-outs.

But we finally got to see another full custom loop hardtube build so happy to many AiO builds lately.

It's not representative of how easy it can be to put together a loop, heardline is the hardest thing you could choose to work with and they're going about the build in a really inefficient manner. If you really want to do quick, hassle-free watercooling then soft tubing with plenty of quick disconnects is the way to go since you'll be able to remove any part at any time without having to fully drain the loop.

To be fair, you also picked the hardest tubing type. Working with hardline is always going to be more difficult than soft (particularly since you're not able to add in quick-disconnects  so you can make your loop fully-modular). It's also more expensive and more of a pain to drain and work on.

I don't know about this, but I think I still prefer a much bigger and modern case (such as ThermalTake View 31) that could house all my reservoir, radiator, pumps and way more room for the build rather than this contraption. The idea of integrating the reservoir as a motherboard back plate is okay I guess, but I think if it can be move to become as a side panel so you can showcase the panel and your components, that will be better.

Um, wow, all that work totally did not seem worth it by a mile. A big air-cooler costs less and is only a  couple of minutes of work to install.

Watching this video makes me want to see if @LinusTech and Alex could make a decent build using my Gigabyte 3D Mercury case that has built in water cooling (seen here: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1119867-seeking-advice-blast-from-the-past-case/?tab=comments#comment-13015821 ).  Been thinking of using it for newer NAS build, but the thought of seeing what Linus would make of it (keeping in mind it's a good 10+ years old, untouched except for the day it arrived at my door, so completely untouched tubing, pump and block) would be quite interesting.

Wonder if that would be the "easiest water cooled pc" they could get...?

Ya I will say I love the look of hard tubed custom loop builds.  But I also consider them more of a showpiece than anything.

A D15 and a GPU that has a beefy heatsink and good fans on it (asus strix, MSI gaming trio, aorus card etc) will perform stellar.  And while it may not be as low as custom loop temps (though sometimes not that far off!) it doesnt matter for sound.  I literally never hear my CPU or GPU unless I am pushing it in an extreme fashion (that doesnt represent normal use anyways), and they are both overclocked significantly.  Their total install time was something like 5 minutes, and I could probably put the whole system together in 30-40 min.

I still may tinker with a custom loop someday as tinkering is fun, but in terms of time/money/performance it is certainly not worth.  Watching them build in that case drove that point home.

Whether water cooling is worth it or not is pretty much subjective unless you're a hardcore OCer (but not able to go for a more exotic setup). For the majority of rigs air is indeed just fine, but for showcase rigs like this, nothing quite does it like a proper custom loop. Watercooling also has a higher ceiling, once you get above a certain wattage or amount of hardware, water becomes easier than air if you want to push the rig. I just... can't push my 5960X/Radeon VII combo as far on air as I can on water. Air doesn't have the cooling headroom, whereas with water if it isn't performing up to snuff I just add another rad to the loop (actually just did that lol). Some madlads run their loops through a chiller to get temps even lower, but that brings in condensation and that'd be too much of a worry for me.
