What Upgrades did you do on 2019 for your PC?

On my desktop I upgraded from 8gb to 24gb, and later on to 28gb.

I also downgraded from a rx 480 into a 1050 ti since I needed to use CUDA-specific stuff, then bought a 2060 Super a couple hours ago.

On my laptop I went from 8gb to 12gb, and replaced my storage HDD for an SSD.

FX6300 @ 4.2GHz | Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 R2 | Hyper 212x | 3x 8GB + 1x 4GB @ 1600MHz | Gigabyte 2060 Super | Corsair CX650M | LG 43UK6520PSA
ASUS X550LN | i5 4210u | 12GB

Well my PC was built in February this year so I guess I could list down the things I've done this month:
Added one more fan - Noctua NF-A12x15 PWM

Added a Heatsink for my Samsung 970 Evo Plus

Got a second hand Liteon Blu-ray player and a long SATA cable since the case doesn't have a 5.25in bay

I may or may not go for a New CPU  next year, either the 3900X or whatever intel is going to cook up.

Specs: Motherboard: Asus X470-PLUS TUF gaming (Yes I know it's poor but I wasn't informed) RAM: Corsair VENGEANCE® LPX DDR4 3200Mhz CL16-18-18-36 2x8GB

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X          Case: Antec P8     PSU: Corsair RM850x                        Cooler: Antec K240 with two Noctura Industrial PPC 3000 PWM

Drives: Samsung 970 EVO plus 250GB, Micron 1100 2TB, Seagate ST4000DM000/1F2168 GPU: EVGA RTX 2080 ti Black edition

Upgraded dd4 2400 mhz ram with 3200 mhz

Swapped out a RX 570 for a RX 5700

Added a 240 gb ssd to serve as a boot drive

Installed a 120 mm rear case fan.

Overclocked my Ryzen 5 2400g to 3.8 ghz on all cores

I hope to upgrade my Ryzen 5 2400g to either a R5 2600 or 3600 in the next year but for now it's plenty adequate for what I use it for.

I got a free upgrade from 500GB to 1TB SSD thanks to my parents and falling SSD prices. I switched out the HDD in their MacBook for my old SSD and they replaced my SSD with a similarly priced equivalent as new, which happens to be double the size.

I also changed CPU thermal paste from factory to thermal grizzly kryonaut because I had to reseat my cooler and it was cheaper to get 1g of a good paste as I only needed that much at most.

Next year I have plans to go 1440p 144hz.

i5 8600 - RX580 - Fractal Nano S - 1080p 144Hz

I bought an MX Master 2S (sadly there's an MX Master 3 I noticed now) and a Wacom Cintiq Pro 13".

I also got a few 4TB drives for the server and some SSDs.

I'm hoping to upgrade CPU in 2020. The mighty 2700K still pushes on.

Nothing to this build, actually. Next year maybe, got €200 gift card to spend.

Samsung Galaxy S5 to Asus Zenfone 6. This was the big upgrade.

And then I did create mobile streaming setup. For which I bought €25 monopod, Blue Yeti and Logitech C920. Plus using that S5 for 4G connection.

Only upgrade still present - 27" 1080p 165Hz AOC AG272FCX6
bought a lots of RAM, about 128GB and sold half of it. No point having over 16GB for simple gaming, maybe CP2077 changes that.

Went from a Ryzen 5 1500X to a Ryzen 7 2700.

Went from 16GB of DDR4 2133MHz, to 16GB at 3000MHz.  Went from a RX 480 to an RX 590.  (My 480 died on me and this was before the 5700 was out)

Went from an ASRock AB350M to an ASRock B450M Pro4.

Got a better case.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

Built a new gaming rig in Jan 19 after years of suffering on the AMD FX platform and exhausting all possible avenues of upgrades.

So new rig was R5 2600X, Gigabyte Aorus B450 Pro, 32GB 3200mhz Corsair Vengeance, Corsair 115 AIO (280mm, no RGB fans), WD Black 250GB NVME, 2x Crucial MX500 1TB drives. Sharkoon BW9000 case and some extra Corsair ML fans 140/120mm.  I salvaged my Sapphire RX580 and a couple of 3TB HDD's from my old rig and reused my mouse/keyboard/monitors.

Then in late spring, I got a corsair glaive gaming mouse to replace my old teknet one... a couple of months later a corsair straife mechanical keyboard, in Sept a Sapphire RX5700 XT Pulse card... and in Nov a new 27" AOC 144hz Curved gaming monitor to go with my 2 Acer 27" 75hz monitors and dropped the old BenQ 22" 60hz I was using in portrait mode.

14 hours ago, DrMacintosh said:

Nope! This card is great. My Sapphire 580 is hot garbage in comparison in terms of thermals and noise. Performance being massively improved is a given so I won’t knock the 580 for that.

My old Sapphire RX580 was giving me issues too... I stripped of the cooler, cleaned it up and reapplied thermal paste and temps dropped about 11ºC and no more issues. That card now sits in my mediaserver.

System 1: Gigabyte Aorus B450 Pro, Ryzen 5 2600X, 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3200mhz, Sapphire 5700XT, 250GB NVME WD Black, 2x Crucial MX5001TB, 2x Seagate 3TB, H115i AIO, Sharkoon BW9000 case with corsair ML fans, EVGA G2 Gold 650W Modular PSU, liteon bluray/dvd/rw.. NO RGB aside from MB and AIO pump. Triple 27" Monitor setup (1x 144hz, 2x 75hz, all freesync/freesync 2)

System 2: Asus M5 MB, AMD FX8350, 16GB DDR3, Sapphire RX580, 30TB of storage, 250GB SSD, Silverstone HTPC chassis, Corsair 550W Modular PSU, Noctua cooler, liteon bluray/dvd/rw, 4K HDR display (Samsung TV)

System 3 & 4: nVidia shield TV (2017 & 2019) Pro with extra 128GB samsung flash drives.

I got 2 32" monitors from EG.

The only problem is they were the first monitors they've made and they're trash...but big.

Not enough room to fully utilise my 27" LG Ultrawide which has been relegated to the side (unfairly).

Need to move some stuff around and have the ultrawide back in as the main gaming display.

Oh and I bought some more RAM. (Corsair LPX Vengeance)

My Mom bought me the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter.

I bought myself: Xiaomi RGB light bulbs, Xiaomi Toothbrush, iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit, Pi 4 with 4 GB RAM, Fractal ARC Mini R2 digitec Edition limited edition case.

In April I built a new PC for a friend with an 9600k and a RTX 2060, which is already kinda outdated and didn't really make sense because Ryzen 3rd Gen was announced shortly after ?

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I'm Swiss and my Mother language is Swiss German of course, I speak the Aargauer dialect. If you want to watch a great video about Swiss German which explains the language and outlines the Basics, then click here.

If I could just play Videogames and consume Cool Content all day long for the rest of my life, then that would be sick.
