I'm sure we have a few Rainmeter users here.
Been using it for a little while now. I use it to keep the desktop tidy, easy access to my main apps and to show my CPU/GPU's stats.

Same here. Though I also have a clock from a skin that stays on top of all windows on monitor number 3. It's placed in such a way that makes it very convenient to glance at for quickly checking the time, but also doesn't get in the way.

I used to use Rainmeter on my old work PC, I enjoyed it but it's just another layer of unnecessary stuff. I simply utilize the start menu and pin to taskbar for my needs. My desktop is clean, the only icon there is the Recycle Bin.

As for my local drives:

My C:\ drive is a m.2 ssd which holds the OS and software installations. ~500GB

The E:\ drive is for backups and mass media storage. ~5TB

The J:\ drive is for anything "download" related. (Such as downloads from Chrome/Firefox/Email) ~500GB

The K:\ drive is for media and virtual machines. (GIMP work, Adobe Premiere work, and OBS recordings go here) ~500GB

Once any media work is complete, it gets backed up to the external drive and to a network location which also has it's own daily backups.

Desktop is empty of icons, all my files are on a single drive (I have a lone 500GB SSD in my PC), and my downloads & pictures are always clear of junk or unwanted files.

Start menu has about 20 go-to applications that I can access just by pressing the Windows key.

its a big mess with all kinds of random files. i did sort most programs into folders but it only takes a week or two before my freshly cleaned desktop is a mess again.

as for my physical desk-top, its an even bigger mess with all kinds of random electronics bits laying around. same story when it comes to cleaning it

Depends what time of the month it is. If it's towards the start, it'll be pretty clean because everything just got dumped into a monthly purge folder on a drive in my NAS for future me to deal with. If it's towards the end, well buckle up buttercup because shit's about to get nasty.

Then in the way of files everything is fairly organized considering it's just been a rolling accumulation with no real spring cleaning done.

S1 is just a general drive (VMs, documents, drivers, that sort of thing), S2 is used for image files and installers, S3 is just a dumping drive, and S4 is my Plex drive. Not pictured is a 5th drive (a nearly-dead 250GB WD Blue) that isn't shared which is used exclusively for Vegas on my "file" server.

I don't have much organization outside of a dedicated recorded videos folder and a dedicated art scan folder.

Which becomes a massive problem when you also extract a ton of game files and have a little over 2TB of storage at your disposal.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

i usually complete hide all icons from the desktop and always hit windows key then type and search for applikations. way faster imo but also i like a clean desktop.then i use a second display for keeping discord and loads and temps in check

"You know it'll clock down as soon as it hits 40°C, right?" - "Yeah ... but it doesnt hit 40°C ... ever  😄"

My desktop is probably as tidy as can be without buying a bracket to prevent GPU sag, custom cables to not have ketchup and mustard, and some cable runners or modifying my case to hide two cables running across my motherboard.

Not bad.

My only complaint with the Define R5 is that due to the soundproofing material on the right panel, there's little room for cable management back there. My rig still looks pretty tidy, though.

As far as my desktop background goes, I have everything organized in columns so it at least appears organized.

Yeah behind my motherboard tray isn't *great*, but it's not awful either.

Default Windows 10 wallpaper.

Nearly no shortcuts, I use Chrome and Steam, that's it. Even then that's from the start menu.

Nothing, not even the trash bin. Have every icon there hidden. I do put all programs I use relativly often like steam, word, and whatever pinned to the task bar tho.

Only times when I really see the desktop at all is when I start up and shut down my pc anyway.... Probably why I haven't changed background image in years.

As of files, I know one of two things I could have improved on the organisation, but I still consider it very organized.

“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at.
It matters that you don't just give up.”

Nothing on my desktop but my actual desk is a mess of papers and casually discarded children’s toys, some broken for me to repair, some just done with for the day.

Its a mess.
