Needs more info for news but yeah I agree. I would jump ship ASAP. I wouldn't of used PIA anyways as it was based in the US

Switzerland is not a secure country for the handling of data. Only use a VPN with a canary watch outside of the 14 eyes. Also bigger is not always better

I view third party VPNs as more of a security tool rather than a privacy tool, in the sense that the nosy IT guy can’t see the sites I visit when I use uni’s wifi and allows me to bypass georestrictions. The thing is, it’s a matter of faith. 
 

But I can say that using paid VPNs is so much better than free/pay once lifetime VPNs as free ones sell user data to third parties or bombard them with ads.

China notoriously forces data collection from their companies. The line between "free market company" and totalitarian government is blurred.

Worst part is that CyberGhost does keep all connection logs, they don't have a zero log policy, which means that PIA or rather PI will now likely keep logs.
