16GB ram enough in 2019?

Seeing more and more games that require it, any performance boost with 32?

Desktop: 7800x3d @ stock, 64gb ddr4 @ 6000, 3080Ti, x670 Asus Strix

 

Laptop: Dell G3 15 - i7-8750h @ stock, 16gb ddr4 @ 2666, 1050Ti

Nah, 16GB is enough... specially for a gaming focused system.

Ive only played 1 game that ever tapped my RAM out while having a browser and discord things open (with Windows 10) and that's 7 Days To Die and that's only the largest maps and I think its a badly coded game.  16gb has been more than enough for me and I expect it will be for a few more years based on what Ive seen.

The only game i am aware of that literally EATS all of your RAM is Rust. Other then that - 16 GB is fine, as long as its not trash low DDR3 value one (even then, the amount is still fine :P).

I believe it's 2666mhz DDR4. 

 

It's a recent Asus Zephyrus 701, and I was wondering whether I should upgrade soon. 

 

Assuming that the laptop is upgradable.

16 GB is fine for now, just don't gimp yourself by buying 4x4 GB.  Get 2x8 so you can throw on another dual set for 32 GB on a 4 slot board.  If you have a two slot board, you'll have to go from 2x8 to 2x16 eventually.

 

Of course HEDT users are always going to be quad channel and at least 32 GB.
