So it looks like a teardrop notch phone like the 6T, but with slightly better specs in every aspect, and a triple camera, for $100 more. Sounds like a pretty good deal.

The Asus Zenphone 6 offers very similar specs (same SOC) for $500, so I would say Oneplus is not the value king it used to be. But reviews will have to tell whether this phone is better or not (the screen on the Zenphone is LCD, not OLED for one thing).

It still looks like it will beat the likes of a Pixel 4 XL in terms of value. The Pixel 3 started at $799 and $899 for the Pixel 3 XL. This is more of a competitor to a Pixel 4 XL in terms of size probably, so at least $300 cheaper...

How is Oneplus with software updates to older phones? Not great I imagine. I don't like how they release a new phone so often. It is not necessary, makes you get buyer remorse, and also makes it harder for them to provide updates to all these different models.

The round, black, protruding camera design on the back is an eyesore to an otherwise clean design OnePlus usually has. Why couldn't they just retain the older straight down the middle?

Not for me:

  • Too expensive by like 200€ - 300€.
  • I have zero use for HDR or 95Hz on a mobile.
  • I have no use for so much storage.
  • Oneplus-specific fast-charge, instead of the more widely available Qualcomm QC or USB PD.
  • No wireless charging.
  • I still don't like glass-backs.

EDIT: I, for one, have no opinion on the rear-camera, unlike other people here; it doesn't bother me in any way or form, nor does it impress me, either.

They've apparently really upped their game about updates ! They release new versions of Android quite fast, often with beta, within weeks (at most) of the official release dates now.

I remember when I had the OnePlus X, updates were hell and took months and months to arrive, with less than 2 years of support for my phone. I think now it's much more stable and safe on this specific aspect.

I expected something better than the OnePlus 7 Pro I have, I'm disappointed and I absolutely hate the look and design of the rear camera setup. The cameras are a bit of a downgrade too. Hoping the 7T Pro (if it exists) will be better in terms of design and innovation - maybe an underscreen camera instead of a pop-up one?

I would add : no wireless charging despite having a glass back !

Looks like they won't add wireless charging until it can reach faster speeds, until then they'll solely focus on their proprietary quick charging tech I guess ?

To be frank, though, I quite like the look and feel of their glass back. This frosted style is really soft to the touch, and much much less of a fingerprint magnet.

The OP7T isn't the best value, but I could do without the wireless charging as 70% in 30 mins is really quick.

Not a fan of the glass back either, although at least OnePlus are using a matte backing, a gloss back doesn't feel very secure to hold onto IMO.

If you've seen the Mate 30 Pro that looks worse, although either one still looks better than the iPhone 11 stove top or fidget spinner lenses.

Wireless charging was never meant for speed. It was for convenience. I like just laying my phone in the dedicated smartphone space in newer cars and just automatically charge.

I disagree about the iPhone. Most reviewers have agreed it looks a lot better in person and it's a design that grows on you. From leaks, even I hated it, but once the official renders and devices made it out to the wild, I personally dig the clean Apple design on the back. However the front does look dated

Agreed ! The clear glass surrounding the lenses on the iPhone looks much cleaner and less aggressive, to me.

Better get used to seing a lot of weird multilenses design, haha

To tell you the truth, if this launched instead of the OnePlus 7 Pro five months ago, I would have grabbed it immediately. Still will.

That oreo on the back, though. Mixed feelings, but I don't think it's ugly. At least not as much as the iPhone 11's cameras.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

Was I the only one watching the reveal? That sad 360p mess of a reveal with video streamed at 10fps with horribly out of sync audio? Apple kinda spoiled me in this regard as they always do it super professionally. Hell, even Huawei's Mate 30 conference was done really well from technical perspective. This one was just sad. And I thought it's gonna be a live presentation and all they served was pre-recorded stuff.

Oneplus is just going down the drain, first they only launch the pro in the north america, now only the 7T and no 7T Pro AND the camera bump is the worst I've ever seen. Oh and they're are so far from being a flagship killer with their pricing now they may as well just admit they joined them because they couldnt beat them.

I feel like they'll delay the release of the 7T Pro for 6 month, like they unfortunately commonly do lately, with yet another premium on the 7 Pro Price.

7 : $559

7 Pro : $669

7T : $599

7T Pro : $699 - $749 ???

Ever since OPPO acquired OnePlus, I've been disappointed by the lack of true distinctive innovation that really sets them apart from their competitors, like it used to. Now, whatever new tech these big chinese companies implement on their devices : Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, Redmi... And now OnePlus, they'll all have pretty much the same stuff crammed in different brandings, and voilà.

Even now with the big camera module being attention grabbing piece of the design, it's sad to see Oneplus still settled for middling camera performance.

As for the shape of the module itself, I'm indifferent. The rest of the phone seems pretty good, and OxygenOS continues to be my favourite Android interface.

With all these expensive phones well over $1000, it's good to see that this model OnePlus is still at a reasonable price.

I owned an OP 2 years ago, may be interested in their phones again.

I think OPPO always owned oneplus? But i agree with the sentiment
