No, firewire is different, it's only curved on one side.

I want to say it's most likely Mini USB B  / Mini B but in your picture I see 7 contacts inside (or maybe 6).. either way more than 4-5 pins which should be in usb 2.0 ... i guess it could be a proprietary connector that bundles data out with s-video/composite out and you can buy a dongle/splitter cable?

Can't you say the camera manufacturer and model?  Did you look at the manual or the page? are there any reviews for that camera? Maybe they mention the purpose of connector

Doesn't look like a standard connection to me. Perhaps a deviation on the mini USB connector.. But doesn't look like mini USB or Firewire to me.

Do you have the (approximate) physical size of the connector and camera model and make perhaps?

Firewire looks like this:

There are a *few* extra super rare ones.

Basically, you may need to know the model/type of camera. A few camera makers use almost proprietary sockets/cables.

A few examples are, micro HDMI:

HDMI-1-500x301.jpg

So it may not be data, but a Micro HDMI.

Plus Mini and Micro also have "A" and "B" versions... to make things even more complicated:

It a FinePix A340. Its about half an inch in length.

Google knows all.

It's a proprietary cable:

[edit]

Which is a pain, as it seems it's just a USB cable with a special connector. I'm not totally angry at them, as I guess it allows them to combine a USB and AV cable into one socket to save space of 2 sockets (one USB and 1 AV).

Ok, I see. Not any cables for sale locally which isn't too fantastic.

Yeah. I got a couple of Fuji cameras this year passed on to me. Thankfully both used HDMI micro instead, which they now doubled as USB + VGA (HDMI :P) so easier to get spares (the box had about 5 spares in lol! XD ).

Guess the older ones used those strange cables above instead.

It's astonishing how often people ask a forum before Google.
