I used to support Alzheimer research mainly but decided to change to any disease later on

I checked what I'm doing rn tho and it's Ebola so like...

"

I'm contributing to

Project 14233

Nucleoprotein (NP) is important for the replication of Ebola virus. NP encapsidates viral genomic RNA and protects it from degradation and from being detected by the host immune system. NP self-oligomerization is essential for the encapsidation of viral genome as well as for the assembly of budding virus. Here, we are simulating the structure of NP bound to inhibitory peptides that prevent NP oligomerization.

I mean this is turning into a joke.. seems like every second WU is 14180.

Looks like I've finally joined the 14180 club. Seems I have to pay 15% of my PPD as part of my membership. Yay!

I have mine set to Alzheimer's, but most of my WUs never actually end up being related to that. I'm going to guess it's probably more a preference than anything, and it doesn't matter what you set it to.

Wonder if this is an Nvidia thing? Like those GPUs more often get those WUs. I'm running AMD, sample size of 2 GPUs so..... not accurate at all.

My HD7970 was getting a few 14180's as well. I almost wish it still was. Now on 14184 and 14185 which only have a base credit of 3600 points (about 20k points after QRB). My PPD estimation for the card has dropped from 185K to 110K.

14180's actually work pretty well for me on a 1660 Ti. It's many of the other 14xxx WU's I have issues with ?

is a 1660Ti still pascal or Turing based?

about 80% of the WU's i'm getting right now are 14180's. cuts 1mppd off my folding power because the 2080ti can't process them efficiently.

The reason for this is because the WU can't be run in as many parallel executions as many others. This is also why it has less of an effect on lower end cards that often have higher higher clockspeeds, think 1070 us 1080ti.

So it is only using a limited amount of the cuda cores, but if you have a card with half the number of cuda cores it's using a higher percentage of them

Turing, with a bit of cross dressing or rather a bit less cross dressing? No Tensor or RT cores.

ayh okay, from what I gathered last week or so it seems to be the newer RTX cards having issues with certain WU's due to low shader counts or something along rthose lines?

Can't run two jobs per GPU can we? Maybe a use for SR-IOV on a GPU here.

Still seems to tax 96% on the Cuda cores tho?

I just know it takes ages for my 2070 to complete these 14180's

That actually shows the utilisation of the cuda scheduler as far as I know.

You can do this on some BOINC projects but you often don't see much of an improvement as it's the scheduler that ends up being the limiting factor

SR-IOV would make that problem go away, it's creating two actual hardware GPUs for the OS to see from a single actual hardware device.

Ah, got yea... Luckily I got a free unlimited bandwidth upgrade 3 weeks back, it just bottlenecks about 90% web browser traffic for a few minutes indefinitely that's all... Guess I'll be looking at some stuff random stuff on my drives indefinitely ?

It just did a 4 minute pause and didn't fail, and it failed while I was trying to find a knock on wood gif... It's slowly getting to 100% every time it fails ?

One word. TekSavvy. Replaced the ISP that rhymes with Hell years ago and haven’t looked back. Reasonable prices, better than great service and support, reliable upstream connections, advanced notifications for maintenance, support via  email, DSLreports forms.

I wonder if the FAHClient is doing any connection probes before accepting the WU. And if so, and if you block those servers in hosts file or some other way, will the WUs for them even be accepted?..
