Getting old is not that bad..

I guess I am a bit older than most folks here. But I got one of the best feelings last night when I found out I was going to be a grandfather.

Congrats. I hope I don't become a grandfather for many more years. My son is 5 and my daughter is 1. 

 

Now your new job is to put as much sugar in your grandchild as possible , then send them home with Mom and Dad as hyper as possible.

Grandparents did this to me when I was a kid. Drove my parents insane. Also gave me an art kit with nothing to draw on.

If you are only now becoming a grandfather, then you're nowhere nearly as old as I am and, I assure you, getting old IS all that bad (and I have the aches and pains to prove it)!

It is nice to know that your line will go on.  

 

It is not working out for me and it is not my place to apply pressure. So if it happens it happens.

Oh from 22 years in the Army I have many aches and pains. But I do not notice them as much. I sure as hell do not feel 55.

I didn't feel like 55 way back when I was 55, either and that was after 30 years of working in warehousing. Now? I'm legally handicapped.

Nah getting older is not that bad, i am 41, and seriously have entered an age where i do not give a flying F*** about other peoples opinion on me..

Jk, getting older aint that bad; It just means finding new things that bring meaning to your life. Life is beautiful people, dont waste it feeling sorry

Getting old hit home to me a few months ago when I tripped over the dog and hit my head on of all things my paper shredder and got a concussion.  I have alway been able to stop myself from getting seriously injured falling and I have not had a sheltered life. I have work as a horse trainer and have had hobbies like spear fishing and mountain climbing. 

What is next?  Falling and not being able to get up.

 

The biggest issues for me in entering old age is leaning that you are not who you were. I now understand why some older men get grumpy and I am trying not to get grumpy myself. 

 

Also retirement can be depressing if you were defined by what you did. It is a catch 22. I could only retire if I was successful at my job and being retired is sometimes depressing since I know longer do that job.  

 

When it comes to this forum I am amused when younger people say that they are waiting for something like prices going down or the next best thing and I am thinking that there is only one thing that I am waiting for and the rest I will getting as soon as I can.
