Linus Tech Tips Notifier for Firefox (EOL)

How long has it been since you resumed from sleep? It checks every minute, but I presume it's been longer than that. But in the next version I intend to add some debugging data to help resolve this (and any other potential) issue.

PC wasn't in sleep mode. Just idle and screens on powersavings (HDD running). It was that way about 3,5h. I haven't yet restarted browser but will do so next. Still showing that it isn't connected.

I dunno, but I leave the same browser window open for weeks at a time and I haven't had any issues with that.

Weird (and obviously not supposed to happen). I don't even know where to start trying to reproduce it, so I'm afraid I'm just going to have to leave it until I release a version with some debugging tools (hopefully next version). Does it always happen when you leave your PC?

I don't know. I'll test tomorrow if I can do it again. Like said, I don't usually have browser open all the time.

Seems that it was just one time glitch. I'll report back if it happens again at some point.

I have now created a blog on the forum (mainly to test it out) which I intend to post some more stuff on about the addon http://linustechtips.com/main/blog/21-linustechtips-notifier-firefox-extension/

That's cool! I didn't even know that the blog part even worked to be honest..

Nor did I until I read through the forum features and suggestions thread. 20 people before me appear to have created blogs (at least, mine is #21) so a few people have found it. It will be interesting to see how it goes (and more interesting to see whether I manage to actually post stuff on it :D)

At some point I'll post my current UI design on there, and possibly the html source (?). The UI is probably nearly ready (then it's back to the back-end stuff, which is a pretty drastic overhaul probably).

Weird. Is it only happening on linux? Because that should theoretically not make a difference. I'll look into it, but the next version should overhaul the options anyway so it should be fixed in the next version. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. :D

It appears that settings do not function at all in FF27, and in FF29.0a2 they don't all function correctly. I will investigate further, but it should be fixed in the next version anyway.

Thats weird too since my normal firefox works just fine and the Mint firefox worked also. The Ubuntu one isn't working for some reason.

Strange. On mine, running FF27.1 Portable when I change a setting then close and reopen the popup, the settings revert. On the other hand, it works as intended even through restarts on FF29.0a2, except that I must have a minor bug preventing the UI for Always display number working correctly. I presume you're on FF27 everywhere (and that it's the installed rather than portable version), in which case it's either very weird or related to the bug in v0.2.0 - 0.2.1 that only affected new users.

Identified the issue, although I don't know why it would only affect some users and devices. I might roll out a fix, but I'm not sure yet. Do you think it's worth fixing now or just waiting until the next version?

If I'm only having that issue then I'll wait. I use my laptop so rarely anyway.

Been using this addon for around a month or so now, currently have had to problems with it. It has been very stable (v0.2.2b)

Always back up your files. Especially if you're going to mess around with the VM to try and get shared folders to work.

Everything should still exist and be fine (thank goodness I built it just before), but for some reason the development environment isn't cooperating at the moment.

Ironically, now ubuntu is reminding me to back up.

you should follow some topics, or even change your settings so you automatically follow topics, to get the most out of the addon IMO.

First install, how do I install it? (stupid question, sorry) It wasn't like the Chrome ext., where a single click installs it. How?

Download then drag'n'drop or ctrl+o. The next version should be published to AMO (the ff equivalent of the chrome webstore) so that will make it easier.
